Comprehension > Educated if you get all skillbooks, also Comprehension's bonus it gives to magazines are just wonderful, especially for passive skills like Lockpick/Science/Speech

Just try doing some more quests...

There are quests that my characters won't do for RP reasons, and some of them are just too boring to bother. But everyone one of them kills on self-defense :D

The World of Pain mod seems to be what i'm looking for, as increased spawns are less than ideal solution due to the design of the game world.

On topic of perks, Long Haul is pretty nice, it allows me quickly to FT to a merchant/safehouse and drop off excess weight without packing stuff on companions.

Jury Rigging is the best.

Here and now is probably the worst. It's the waste of a perk to me. An extra level granted at the cost of something useful.

The ones I use most often are Intensive Training, Educated and Comprehension.

I've never used Here and Now or Swift Learner, but I imagine they are extremely useful for casual or time-impaired players. Computer Whiz and Infiltrator; never use them.

Best Perks for me: Animal Friend, Comprehension, Jury Rigging
Worst perks for me: Any perk related to energy weapons (I use bullets), Exp boosting ones, purely since the game levels you relatively fast.

i like the life giver perk :disguise:

I did not say it was useless. I was just pointing out 'jury rigging' is not as powerful a perk as some think.

That may be useful to some people, who don't want to spend 40 repair points on a moderately useful perk.

True, especially if you don't plan on repairing rare armours. The hand loader perk however for a guns user kicks a**, and after spending 70 pts in repair, what harm is done with another 20?

It's also pretty useful for Energy Weapon users, who usually have the Built to Destroy perk. The RCW and the Gauss or Tri-Beam Laser on Max Charges wear down lightning fast.

You need 50 repair to make 'weapon repair kits'. You can level repair to 30 easily then with 'comprehension' and a 'fixing things' book you can make a big pile of weapon repair kits at a very early level. If you buy the ingredients for 'weapon repair kits' it's about 20 caps each. You can find them easily enough too.

Jury rigging needs level 14 and 90 repair. Comprehension is available at level 4 and 50 repair is easy to achieve. You can play most of the game with your weapons in fine shape long before jury rigging is available. It's also not worth it, for me, to throw away the even the 20 points, assuming 'fixing things' use just to fix my armor. It's pretty easy to make lots of bucks and I can use the points elsewhere.

In the hand loader perk perhaps, I've never used it. Stuff seems to die alright, I'm pretty tactical anyway.

Higher repair skill makes your WRK works better, aka less WRK to repair a weapon. Not to mention you will need high repair to loard Hand loader rounds.

Well, I never make a guns character without the handloader perk. Modded rounds are nice, and the ability to recover more hulls/cases etc. I wouldn't waste a perk on comprehension just to make repair kits.. but thats just me

While I prefer using jury rigging (I like high repair for various reasons and by the time it gets up there there's little else I need to push higher so I may as well grab jury rigging for ease) this is viable. My first hardcoe playthrough was the first I started using recipes properly and Novac is a beautiful place for weapon repair kits, even without tagging repair I was at 30 with comprehension when I reached it, got enough stuff for about 14 kits and then just used the magazine and made a load of kits.
Unfortunately, I never actually used them, so currently they're being held by EDE :D

But yeah, it is a very sound tactic, I don't use hand loader either and if you don't care for repair generally (checks, traps and repairing) then just getting it to 30 with comprehension should work really well.

I'd say the best perk for me is Piercing Strike. It helps a lot when fighting heavily armoured opponents.
The worst is probably Explorer. I've taken it once, in Fallout 3. I regretted it every second of the rest of that playthrough...

I sometimes use that one when I'm into the 20's, Level-wise. With Well-rested and a Swift Learner bonus, it can net you over 4000 XP in one shot.

Subjective.

It's more annoying when I find 215 - 217 out of 22_ locations in Fallout 3, including DLC according to the wiki, and I end up hopelessly searching for the remaining ones for what? 10+ hours? I think I ended up just skimming through what I had and didn't from the wiki. That or I just gave up.

Plus, you have to consider that some people just want to see everything without having to worry about missing something.

I mostly just play shooters. I pay no attention to achievements or any such crap. I love to explore in whatever game I'm playing and get enjoyment from discovery. I will never care about 217 out of 220, it seems crazy. I'm not a real RPGer. ;)

Don't go jumping to conclusions here. I'm not a "real RPGer", as you say. I just play how I wanted to play. If I wanted to find all of the locations that playthrough, hell I tried. I find fun in doing it, even if I got annoyed at the end. It kept my attention and that's what mattered.

Share with me what your Best/favorite perk is and Your Worse/uselss Perk is also. For me the most useless is Probably the spray n Pray perk and the best would Probably be Heavy wieght(dead money) list yours and why you hate them also.

Most favorite: Probably Mystery Stranger or Black Widow (let's just say the latter helped me 'persuade' Benny and allowed me to kill his sorry ass while he was 'preoccupied' :hubbahubba:
Least favorite: Here and Now. I mean, yeah, the skill points are kinda nice, but what I really look forward to is the added perks.

You know you can easily make 'weapon repair kits' eh'? A few common components and 50 repair. Almost like cheating with Ronnie in tow.

Not as easy as what he just described, and making the best of a repair kit requires a high skill anyway. Not to mention repair kits are useless on armor, being able to repair your rare light armor with clothing, or your power armor with metal armor is quite useful.

It's a waste of a perfectly good perk spot. I can only see doing it if I was trying to not take perks that would help me so I could be "hardcoe". Other than that, you level up so fast there is no point doing it even faster.

I am not sure what you are talking about. What would "the best of a repair kit" mean for starters, and why would high skill have anything to do with it?

You need 1 duct tape, 1 scrap electronics, 2 scrap metal, 1 wonderglue and 1 wrench. 50 repair which is easily achieved by 30 repair, the comprehension perk and a 'fixing things' book. It is as easy as that.
