Most Useless Weapon?

Anti-Material Rifle

rare ammo, less bang than Gauss Rifle

Single Shotgun

pitiful damage

Tesla Cannon

not enough damage
shouldn't it have an EMP effect?

No idea where you are getting this rare ammo idea from. Hoover Dam QM is good for several hundred rounds every refresh.

Single Shotgun

pitiful damage

Since when is 50DAM with slugs pitiful? Magnum buckshot should still be impressive. Although with the 1.3 patch a Caravan Shotgun is far more competitive now even if doing less DAM per shot.

Tesla Cannon

not enough damage
shouldn't it have an EMP effect?

Haven't toyed with one yet.

That's odd. My Pip-Boy always gives ~12 damage and ~5 dps with the single shotgun.

Poor CND weapon and low guns skill will do that. With Magnum Buckshot I'm getting 9.5x7 DAM and 28 DPS. It's really a nice early game alpha-strike weapon. Creep in close enough and sneak-attack with each of the 7 pellets rolling their own critical damage. That starts at 98 points from critical damage alone and peaks at 280 total with a maxed character on torso shots, head shots double the numbers.

Lucky (on a lucky character) and the Mysterious Magnum can be quite good.

My vote is for those .22 weapons. Never used them.

Boxing Tape.
You get Bladed Gauntlet ridiculously fast which is so far much better than the tape.

Laser Pistol.
It's crap, it really is, I waste far too many EC's when using it.

.75-40 or whatever it's called.
Was some time since I did a Guns character but I remember I could hardly find any of this stuff so I just ended up not bothering with the Tequila Pistol and Brush Rifle.

Dynamite.
Pre-patch at least, dunno if they're better now, but pre patch? Holy [censored] Willis they svcked! Three dynamite sticks to kill one coyote!?

No.
It should have been a plasma weapon accualy, that's sort of what the real one was suposed to be.

In terms of cost effectiveness? Anti-Material Rifle. It's only good for Deathclaw hunting.

Actually, per base cap shot, the Gauss Rifle eats up more. 3 caps per MFC * 5 MFCs per shot = 15 caps to fire that thing.

One .50 MG round costs 6 caps.

Now, if you get into special ammo, then the price per round goes up. But then again, Over/Maxcharge goes up too once you factor in how many regular MFCs you have to expend to make them.

Agree about boxing tape. That is horrid. Like a BB Gun.

Dynamite on the other hand is not that bad. I have no problems killing most things with a single stick. Main problem is the lighting animation, since you get shot a couple of times lightning it off.

As I said, 3 dynamite sticks for a coyote.
It's madness!!
Arzt in Lost died from "one" stick, and a coyote of all things can handle 3 to the face.

And this was on my explosives character too.

Not sure there. I will usually one shot a coyote with one stick. Just did it yesterday at the Coyote Den north of Nipton. That was with a skill in the low 30's. Killed two actually in what shot. Do you use VATS? That is the only way to really be proficient with Dynamite. I do notice that sometimes an explosion will not do any damage. Not sure if they fixed it in the latest patch.

What's with the hate on the tape?
I slew a F'in Mutant Brute at level 4 on my first play with that.

They're obsessed with DPS and don't realize the strategic advantage of knocking enemies unconscious.

Easier ways to knock someone down - like Ranger Takedown or Super Slam. Besides, in the time it takes to knock a Super Mutant Unconscious with tape you would have killed em with the Bladed Gauntlet.

All of which require effort to obtain. Boxing Tape is in the Goodsprings General Store.

Still, of all the starting weapons in every other class the Tape is the worse. Ok, except for Silenced 22 or a knife
