===============
1. DESCRIPTION
===============

With the advent of vurt's new trees. Some of the old yet useful resources have fallen into an older graphics bracket. Therefore I set out to make them closer to on par with the look Morrowind is sporting these days. Mainly I have aimed at making them fuller, but have also tweaked a few other things as well.

Specifically.

This mod edits the trees made by Dracus (FZ), Jdooby (JW), and N'dib (ndib). Dracus and Jdooby's trees have been given additional leaves, about tripling their leaves count. Ndib's have a new leaves mesh entirely, utilizing one of Vurt's meshes.

In addition, I've added a few of my own edits of some of Jdooby's trees. Enjoy!

===============
2. Requirements
===============

Morrowind

========================
3. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN
========================

Extract the files to c:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Morrowind\Data Files

There is no .esp as this is a resource.

=====================
4. PLAYING THE PLUGIN
=====================

I have put place-holder textures on the trees, however I suggest mixing and matching leaves/bark textures to get the look you wish to achieve. Vurt's textures work great but obviously any can be used or made. Have fun with these!

===============
5. SAVE GAMES
===============

No worries.

============================
6. CONFLICTS / KNOWN ERRORS
============================

Just be sure to rename the meshes if you use them in your mod so that they won't conflict with anyone else's mod. Especially if you retexture them!

============
7. CREDITS
============

Bethesda for the great game of Morrowind
Dracus for his trees
Jdooby for his trees
Ndib for his trees
Last but not least, thank you Vurt for making Morrowind beautiful!

And me for the mod itself :)

==========================
8. CONTACT AND INFORMATION
==========================

If you have any questions, concerns or ideas, please feel free to write me. I will not accept any harrassment. Consider this your first warning.

=========================
9. LEGAL STUFF/ DISCLAIMER
=========================

Please do not upload this set of trees, outside of your own mod, anywhere. Obviously use these as you please, otherwise. Just please give me credit where credit is due. And credit vurt if you use any of his textures or any of the Ndib trees. Make sure to check my credits section or send me a message at the offical forums for more information.

Cool, thanks for sharing. I spent quite some time editing and swapping out the trees in Forested MW to use Vurts latest stuff... Looks like I've got even more variety to choose from now.

Thank you.

Very nice! I do think that the JW trees has way too big leaves though. I could make you a new plane of leaves for those, using the same leaves but smaller and a larger amount of them.

Well I hope you have funning incorporating some of these :)

Vurt, that would be awesome. They definitely look rather large as they are now. I would certainly appreciate a revised version from you!
Thanks!

These look fantastic! Thanks for the release. :) I know a certain island that will show these off very well. :D

Quick question while waiting for the link... How is the FPS hit from these? I'll use them regardless, but I'd like to know how tight I can pack them. :)

I haven't noticed a drop in FPS myself. But I have not extensively tested it either. So I cannot say with certainty. But I can say that I don't notice it and my laptop can't even run MGE with distant land or ANY shaders. So. Yeah.

Let me know if some of them are more problematic than others. The new ones I slapped together may be worse in dense packs. Because they have 6 times the amount of leaves.

Let me know of any issues. Leaf counts could maybe be cut a little. But I rather like the way they look now.

Wow, I do not remember PES being this slow to upload something. It's been almost two days now. If this keeps up I'll just post it on TESNexus, but I'd like to keep it in one spot for updates...

Thanks everyone! I've been using the old tree resources in my WIP alongside vurt's and thought that a small update was in order. I hope that this'll be useful for everyone else as well!

I'd like to take a look at the trees and make a better leaves textures for the JW trees, but I get a file error while trying to DL this.. I tried downloading in both IE and FireFox.. anyone else has that problem?

"Greetings File Traveler, there has been an error accessing your file.

This could be because the file has been removed, is broken, or is an issue with your browser or security settings. You could also be receiving this error because you are less than 18 years of age and trying to access an advlt rated file. Feel this should be fixed? Contact our editors at FPOps@IGN.com"

I had no problem at all DLing this, but PES acts up now and then. Trying again in a few hours has always worked for me. :)

I got the same error. I'll ask around see what's up.

edt - talked to a modderator at PES. The hosts have been messing with the programs, there is a problem, they are trying to fix it. Thought they had it this morning, British time, but apparently not. Sorry typos carpel tunnel acting up.

I wasn't having trouble with it this morning but now I am :unsure: I hope the staff at PES can figure out what's up.

@vurt: That would be awesome vurt. Here's a http://www.4shared.com/file/Wh8DwcQG/Mostly_New_Trees.html until things get sorted out at PES (everyone else is welcome to use this too :))

Staff at PES doesn't actually have access to the problem as they're part of a network of sights. Think of it like expecting a moderator here to be able to actually do something if the forums [censored] up, a lot of them are former community members with extra responsibility but no access to the code itself which is what's fubar I think - they have to send a pm to someone else who can. Apparently they've been getting a lot of irate "fix it, fix it now" demands from dlers and modders a like :shrug:

So yeah, definitely having a backup site for mod dl's is always a good idea. I know it's been a while but sites do disappear in the blink of an eye sometimes, especially for resources, it helps to have a backup dl location if something happens to one of them.

Here's a couple of suggestions :

md_vurtgreenleaf3.dds is missing, the texture i was supposed to fix :) I'm not at home at the moment, im on my laptop and it doesnt have that particular texture. Maybe you could email it to me: vurt72 at gmail.com and i'll make another version of it.

Combine properties for your trees in NifSkope, this could help with performance. As it is now you have a separate material etc for every leaf plane, it's really not needed to have 100+ of these.

Use NifSkope and change the tree's material colors. MGE isnt compatible with all of these so in the distance the trees will get another color. For the material color you should copy it from an existing Bethesda mesh (use a tree mesh) and paste it over your trees material color (this can be done manually too, i prefer to just copy/paste over since its a bit faster). At least that's the way i've been doing it for my trees to reduce color "pop-ins" as you get within Morrowind's own view range. This should be done after you've combined properties, or you'll have to change it like 100 times.

Thank you very much for the suggestions vurt, I was not aware of those issues or performance enhancements. I'm definitely going to see what I can do. Unfortunately I'm not home either so I don't have access to the file. I'll try and download it later to send it to you. I'm surprised that I missed that texture, I was sure that I went through everything... thanks for pointing that out.

@DarkDiva: Your input is wise :grad:; when I'm back home I may just upload it elsewhere. Just in case :)

http://www.4shared.com/file/Y_QVHqEd/md_vurtgreenleaf3.html's a new texture for it + an http://www.4shared.com/file/NgNKjIBD/md_vurtgreenleaf31.html with smaller leaves and another color + a bit more shading to the leaves. it's not based on the old texture but i think it looks alright:

http://i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr256/ericthered1090/md_vurt_JW_tree02a.jpg

Edit: i now notice that these looks a bit oversaturated (im now on my stationary PC), but that's easy to fix for you in paint.net or photoshop.

Vurt I grabbed those textures... amazing improvement! I can't believe how much fuller the trees look now! I've updated all the trees to use it and also combined properties to improve performance.

One question, when you said to update materials to match Bethesda's, do I need to do it for the leaves as well as the trunks or just one or the other?

edit: I haven't uploaded them yet :)

I do it for both the leaves and the trunks. the trunks often look much brighter with the default morrowind materials so you might want to darken some of them.

edit: i saw animation nodes, are the trees are animated? I didnt see any animation in the editor.. maybe they're there for some other technique.
