[RELz] Mountain Tower 6.0 Final

The mod's combined download counter is less than 1400 downloads away from the 100,000 downloads mark as of today!

Hopefully the number of people who rate the mod will increase with the number of downloads. Taking a minute to rate the mod doesn't seem like much when compared to the hours I spent on making it suitable for general release.

Mountain Tower has over 100,000 downloads as of today!

Mountain Tower has now reached the 100,000 downloads mark! The download counter includes http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3384 and http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=OblivionMods.Detail&id=649 entries of the mod.

Since the mod has been available for download since April 2006, I really see this as a milestone on its path. It was nice to see this happen since I no longer mod for Oblivion, so thanks for the continued interest, everyone!

And as promised, here are the locations of the secret areas under spoiler tags:

Just making this note: It's best to make a clean save after uninstalling an older version of Mountain Tower - this will make sure that your 6.0 installation will work as intended. Most of the problems people have encountered so far have been fixed by doing this.

A user has had some issues with Mountain Tower's Master Bedroom bed not working with the http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16005 mod, so if anyone is using this mod and Mountain Tower, please report back here and tell me if you have similar problems. Even if you have no issues with these mods running together, make a post so I can get some data on this.

im having trouble with the alchemical sorter and retriever. my cursor is an open hand when rested on the sorter and as such i can only pick it up. the retriever seems to have the correct interface in that regard, but nothing happens when i try to use it. can anyone help me with this?

P.S: sage thank you for taking the time and effort to make this abode. i cant imagine how much time it must have taken but it is truly fantastic.

Wow, I missed this one. You always outdo yourself Sage, and your house mod is the only house mod I've bothered downloading, and certainly the only one that my characters have looked forward to. Your modding presence here has been nothing but positive, and I truly wish you well in whatever you choose to do in your post-Modblivion life :)

Ok, you've got a relatively short load order list, so here's what you should do:

1. Deactivate all your mods temporarily except Mountain Tower.

2. Load up a save game and see if the ingredient sorter works... if it does, proceed to step 3. If not, post here again.

3. Start activating your mods in batches of 5 - once you've activated 5, load up a save game and see when the ingredient sorter stops working. Then just deactivate those last 5 mods one by one, and you'll find out which one is causing the issue.

After these steps, post back here.

i tried doing what you said and it still didnt work. i dont know if this is of any relevance but when i try to make my own mods they dont work. i am using a wiki guide for CS and am doing everything to the letter, but it never shows up in the game. just thought maybe that might be relevant to the sorter problem.

If it doesn't work even with all the other mods deactivated, I'm pretty sure it's a problem with your installation itself.

Are you using the latest official http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm? Also, make sure it's for the right version of Oblivion (region etc), considering that you don't seem to have Shivering Isles installed... which reminds me, are you using a dvd version of Oblivion, or a Direct2Drive version? Post back.

If all that checks out, I don't know what it could be that is your problem.

Ok, so you've got the right patch... try this:

1. Deactivate all your mods except MountainTower.esp.

2. Load a save game and make a new save game in an area not affected by Mountain Tower, e.g. Bruma.

3. Quit the game for good measure, and then launch it again and load the new save game you made. See if the bug goes away.


If those steps don't work, you might have to reinstall Mountain Tower, so take your items from it before reinstalling. Here are the steps for doing a clean install of MT:

1. Follow the uninstallation instructions in the ReadMe.

2. Load a save game and make a new save game in Bruma for example, with all your mods deactivated.

3. Install Mountain Tower as per the ReadMe instructions and activate the mod. Load the clean save game you made - at this point you'll have to buy the tower again, so I'll leave it up to if you want to use a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Console command to add more gold to yourself.

4. The last step would be to check if the bug has been dealt away now.

You know, that just might be possible! Considering that Mountain Tower is about 90% custom textured (Meaning that I can use most the textures again since the majority of them are my own), all I'd have to do for TES V would be to find suitable meshes within the game's archives.

That is assuming that most scripts can be carried over with minor changes and that modders resources can be brought over, which would warrant people like Xiamara and Hel Borne being around to give permission for updating their meshes & textures.

Even if the modders resources and scripts would have to be remade, I'm pretty confident that I could bring Mountain Tower over to TES V when it's released. Of course it wouldn't be identical, but then again I like the idea of making it somewhat different.

I'll say this though: If I'm around when TES V is released, there will be a Mountain Tower for it.

I am having the same problem as dillingerdrummer. Basically, the Mountain Tower mod works fine until I try to use the Alchemical Sorter. Mousing over the Sorter (the scales) gives me the open hand icon, and activating it picks it up and puts it in my inventory.

I'm using the file (Mountain_Tower_V6_Final-3384.7z) downloaded from tesnexus (also tried the one from fileplanet).

I'm running 1.2.0416 (dvd version). I've installed it both manually, and by creating a basic omod via obmm.

For a bit more information, I simulated a load with TES4View, and it seems like the Sorter is listed as a "Misc Item". I would think this would need to be classified as an "ACTI" similarly to how the Retriever is classified. Not sure if that is truly accurate since I'm not a modder and just got into the mod scene with Oblivion. Confirmation from your side would be nice though to rule that out as a possible problem.

Its a great mod, and I appreciate your work.

I've checked it and it's indeed listed under Misc. I've checked my logs and it's been that way since version 3, so it's been a long time since I actually looked at the item itself. Updating scripts doesn't require any interaction with the scales item, so I haven't really paid attention to this before now since the script should initiate regardless of the entry the scales are listed under.

It certainly works that way for me, and for most of the thousands of people who have downloaded my mod so far. However, since this issue exists for at least yourself and dillingerdrummer, I've made a hotfix for it. You can find it at both TES Nexus and PES entries of Mountain Tower. Remember to read the ReadMe before installing. I'm retired from modding, but I also want to make sure people can actually use the mod to its fullest extend.
