[REL] Mountainous Red Mountain

Post » Thu Jul 11, 2013 2:14 am

For the light problem with all the meshes/landscapes becoming black I think is not because of your mod, but really a bug of the new lighting system by MGE XE.
So it's better to report it in its thread.

Great job on this PirateLord! After looking at yours and Knots screenshots, it looks awesome. Now Red Mountain can have the dominating effect it should have, as it was always visible when you walked around Morrowind in Arena. I remember reading the lore from Arena or something even stating that it was visible from the mainland. This seems so obvious, it's a wonder no one has done it before, but I'm sure it was painstaking work moving all the rocks and building, etc. up with the terrain.

Thanks for your efforts, PirateLord and I look forward to using this mod when I reinstall Morrowind with all the latest improvements and my favorite mods. And thanks, Knots for the great sceenshots.

Morrowind is really looking great these days thanks to all the great work modders like you guys have done! I cant wait to return to Vvardenfell again!

Ok thanks so far. I don't have access to my PC during the weekend, but I'll try to get it working next week. Maybe you may know which mesh is missing there? Then I can try to replace it by hand from On the Rocks or so. Sadly I don't have any experience with the contruction kit, so that that I could look up things there.

And if somebody else may have my problem and know how to fix it, feel free to tell me why /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Okay, tracked down that area in the construction set, so it's easier to see the differences.

Here's my http://dl.dropbox.com/u/46396473/Problem.jpg

Looks like you've got two major differences, if we play a game of spot the difference.

The ! appear to be missing tree meshes, so nothing to do with MRM. If you look at the bottom right corner, there are 3 ! in your pic surrounding a scrathclaw plant. Look at my pic, there are trees.
So, a tree replacer mod hasn't installed properly for you.

If we look at the rocks behind the town, you've still got the vanilla morrowind meshes showing, not the rocks I replaced them with, so, you might have installed my mod, and then installed taddeus on the rocks over the top? If you grab the 4 meshes indicated in my readme, and copy them back, that'll solve the rock issue.

For the trees, locate the mod, and reinstall.

Ah ok, so it can only be Vurt's Ashland trees actually. Maybe something screwed up when I installed Vurt's Ghost Fence replacer (you may have notcied it in the back of my pic). As for the rocks you are also right, I've installed your mod and thought the rock mehes are the problem, so I reinstalled Taddeus On the rocks. I'll try to fix that monday and give a response if it worked. But thank you for your patience and the effort!

And kinda stupid, that I don't see that there ain't any tree there in my pciture. /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

No prob, I didn't notice either until I fired up the CS. I'll have to update the readme to make it clear to install Tadd's rocks first, and then replace those 4 meshes, or to use all the meshes i've supplied.

Omg, this is impressive. Red Mountain should be like this. You make me want to play Morrowind again.

So, PL, if you ever decide you want to do a v2.0 of this, the mountain does look pretty weird from some angles. It looks badass from Balmora's angle but from the Grazelands and northern West Gash it looks like a funky crag cathedral. Still vastly preferable to how it used to look and definitely one of the must-haviest mods ever, but I thought I'd say something.

Take some screenies, and scribble on how you think it would be better. The shape follows beths base mound, maybe some extra meshes in places might help it's shape.

Yeah, I figured that was why. I'll take screens to show you what I mean when I get a chance.

There are some incompatibilities with a house mod that I use (Rain's Hand Hall), but I'll fix that myself soon enough.

Thanks again! /goodjob.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':goodjob:' />

(And thanks Knots, for the GDR compatibility patch!)

I use a really basic housing mod called Homes for Let (2.0) by the ever lovely Princess Stomper

BUT it's incompatible. BUT I fixed that.
http://www.mediafire.com/?lcxe81ay6msylxi

Use that esp instead of the original Homes for Let 2.0 and the mountain should be fixed.

I see from those screenies though that you've not replaced the 4 rock meshes with my spikey versions. Now, that might be your preference, but just to warn, you might get some bad looking areas where the spikey rocks were placed merging into each other. It'll really only be noticable when you start exploring red mountain up close.

If we're reporting possible conflicts then clone's http://elderscrolls.filefront.com/file/Exile_Spirits_of_the_Underworld_Mod;52669 probably conflicts. The entrance to the dungeon is just on the Red Mountain side of Ghostgate. I think this is it on http://mw.modhistory.com/download-31-2656 too.

Odd. No other mods should be stomping this one.

This is all that is reported in my conflict report on Wrye Mash.

The World Fixes in question load lower than the new Terrain_rock_RM meshes, so this shouldn't be an issue.

Ok, now everything seems to work just fine: http://h11.abload.de/img/mgescreenshot0069skum.jpg

Maybe 2 things: in my pic these aren't the latest, less branchy of Vurt's trees and the link to the the nexus is down, does anybody know where to geht them?

And the 2nd thing: I use Vurt's Ghostfence, and replaced the fence meshes with your's, so this shold work I guess?

The door from Red Mountain into the Kogoruhn tunnels is at a really weird angle, PL.

Ah, I see what you mean. It's angle/position is the same, it's just the landscape slope has gone through the door. I didn't notice that, so I'll fix.
At least it doesn't totally block the door /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Edit: Fixed, smoothed the nearby path, and added a couple more meshes to a bit of the mountain (Every bug fix will include adding more meshes to shape the place /biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />)

@Chesko
Replace those 4 meshes manually, something hasn't updated/installed correctly

@Saultant
That will work fine. The Fence pieces in the MRM download are longer, There's no other difference.

Very interesting mod here.

I'm just shocked that the thread isn't filled with conflict reports.

Doesn't raising the land like that mean that anything placed by a mod in those areas will get buried - or has that been worked around?

I get particular about this issue - especially regarding settlement/town expansions.

And Knots have done somes patch for the most known mods => http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1345249-relz-mrmdngdr-patch/page__p__20275220#entry20275220 and http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1345838-relz-mrmil-patch/page__p__20282801#entry20282801
And he have planned to do more patchs.

But there is not so much mods that modify things in the Red Moutain area so... ^^
