I find it humorous that because we have dragons this time around, many people's first thought is: "Can I ride them?!".... No one's ever satisfied....

I too find this amusing, which brings me to a quote which was from Cliff Blezenski (sp), "Gamers are an impossible crowd to please."

While I'm not quite as anti-dragon mounting as some people on the forums are, I just don't care all that much. It certainly isn't as ridiculous as some people claim though, considering that we now know not all dragons hate you. Some may want to assist you.

But, it won't be in the game. Had they made cities open instead of celled? Then maybe, but even then it is a lot of work to get the mechanics right.

Well, one of the Bethesda employees said that there will not be dragon mounts but there will be a part where you feel like the most epic guy in the world. Well, it went something like that. Anyways, I think that the last part of the game of gonna be like you killing the most powerful dragon and it's going to ly around and you jump on its back and like kill it while its flying through the air, but more epic.

It wouldnt work and wont be in the for same reasons as Levitation and Mark & Recall.. at least the ability to fly with them anyway which is what everyone would expect.

If you know the Nordic mythology, you'd actually realize that they worship ALL dragons, not just Alduin. If you wish, consider the non-Alduin Dragons as a sort of demi-God. A hell of a lot more powerful than a non-Prince Daedra, yet not quite as powerful as a God. It doesn't hurt my point that the Divine Akatosh actually comes from the Nordic Dragon God Aka (as revealed in the Song of Pelenal book series from the Knights of the Nine expansion pack). But I digress; you are missing my point. If you want a more succinct example, it would be like riding a giant Argonian mage with wings. They are just as intelligent as any other race, and much more powerful. If that's not a God-like creature, I don't know what is.

So... We're going around... Killing the gods of the Nords?

Yep, and when or if a modder actually makes a dragon mount mod, it'll quickly rise to be among the top mods just like the Akatosh mount mod. I'll bet that most of the dragon riding haters here, who swear that dragons are too noble and intelligent to be a mount, will download and use the mod anyway, despite how much they loathe the idea of dragon riding.

How does a standard Skyrim dragon compare to a daedric prince? Currently, the only dragon in Skyrim I see as "God-like" is Alduin; the rest shown so far only seems comparable to any other typical powerful (but not god-like) foe/boss.

I agree on we shouldnt ride dragons these things live like forever are highly inteligent beings and very very powerful .I dont use mods but id agree that if it was in vannilla id ride a dragon but i hope it isnt in.Now if fast travel was out and the land was 30x the size and there was a specific dragon you became close with i could see its useage. But if you could fly around on a dragon saying lay down the napalm fluffy it would be a totaly different game .

LOL wouldnt it be wild if that was the case and you could transform from dragon to human back and forth. It could function like the grey fox cowl.Know one knows it is you as a dragon so you could just fly around scorching everyone and every thing .Now i wouldnt want that cause id never have anyone to talk to again because id kill every liveing thing and burn ever thing that could burn down down and basicly beak the game but it is fun to think about stuff like that.

As a game designer, I think about this ALL the time. Like trying to please a bunch of spoiled children. Nothing ever works. At least not for long.

The introduction of inter-species erotica would no doubt jack up the ESRB as well as toss this game into a distribution nightmare.

This isn't world of warcraft, Dragons are here to destroy the world, and are comparable to angels or watchers, so it makes no sense for them to let you go riding around on your back, following your every whim. These aren't dumb beasts, these are surpreme beings of aedric descent.

It wouldn't work, it would take away the entire challenge of travelling across the rugged land of Skyrim.

They already have Fast Travel, so it wouldn't take any challenge away (not hating on fasttravel by the way)

I think that due to dragons being
A: Hostile
B: Sentient
Dragon mounting would seem tacky and gimmicky if included

I too find this amusing, which brings me to a quote which was from Cliff Blezenski (sp), "Gamers are an impossible crowd to please."

I find it more amusing the torrent of references to mounting also being innuendo

First off, it has been confirmed that not all dragons want to kill you or destroy the world.

Second. "There is one they fear", and that'd be you, the Dovahkiin.

Will their be dragon mounts in game? No, and that is fine with me. But that is not a good argument against it.
