No mounts? AND No fast travel?

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 10:57 am

I've been hearing that there may be no mounts in the game and that fast travel may be removed. If so how will we get anywhere?

I don't know where you heard this, because I heard the exact opposite.

Update: Mountable horses were recently confirmed, fast travel has been confirmed for months. Deep breaths, relax...we've got other things to panic about like how many pieces a suit of armor is. ;)

Hah okay my bad Talaran :P
But it did sound strange when there have been tons and tons of talk of this. Especially fast travel, for a very very long time. It's almost like saying: will there be giants?
Anyway this pretty much says everything there needs to be said here:

Mounts are confirmed. There will be a FO3 fast travel system where you can fast travel to places you've already been and there'll be some carriage travel system to get to the major places. You got the facts mixed up.

What's the point of OB and MW fast-travel? OB was already OTT and MW is useless with OB's system

Might as well tell you a secret. There are those two dangly appendages under your torso, those are called legs. They are used to get to places

Hmm... The defence of Bruma quest was one thing that justified fast-travel in Blivy. Even the die hard role-players would get a mad fit when doing it fully...

Many people seem to prefer one over the other, so both were added to please everyone, I think.

It certainly pleases me, anyways.

I know THAT :sighofdespair: not many people up there speed much and with the stamina and lack of speed attribute it would take forever to get anywhere

It is a bit redundant, but it's a compromise between two parties. After you discover all the major cities the carriage system will be obsolete but will still serve as transportation for those who refuse to use Oblivion's fast travel system for roleplay or immersion purposes.

Near-instant reversal of opinion?

All that panic about lack of fast travel sure turned into "too much fast travel" in a hurry, didn't it?

Thank you. You stated it more artfully than I could.

Likely... but that is the same as adding both onions and raisins to a bagel ~to please both.

People, read the forum rules.

If the only comment you are going to make is to call someone a troll, please don't post. It will take a mod longer to write up the warning for flaming and spam than it will for you to NOT comment like that in the first place.

Anyway this pretty much says everything there needs to be said here:

Not everyone follows every scrap of information released in multiple sources. For example, I'm mostly concerned with pc; unless it comes up on the forums, I won't see information from 360 or ps3 exclusive sources. Other people don't want too much spoiled before the game is out.

In short, some questions could be valid ones. Other questions, if you believe there is a problem, use the report button.

i find that great because than no-fast-travel mods would be easy to make because the carriage travel is already in the game by the developer self, so they just have to disable the normal fast tarvel.

Your explanation was a bit redundant... no offense, but it didn't introduce the actual side of the MW fast-travel lovers: It wasn't for roleplaying or immersion purposes. It was due to the challenge it removed. The fast travel system in Morrowind actually cost you money. It made absolute sense, there are places that if you get to them, like boats, Silt-Striders etc. you can get to other places as well. It's a game, and a world, so fast-travel is a gameplay option as well, when making for free, available from everywhere to anywhere, you actually remove a gameplay feature here.

So no, you didn't really get MW-fast-travel-lovers side.

I think there will be a system to boost your walking and running speed.
