Mounts...

I know summoning horses is more "simple", and its the starndard for MMOS, but, its so nice to reach a City and leave the horses on the Stables..... :/

Check out Fallen Earth. Your mount or vehicle stays where you left it, although I seem to recall that a mount can be eaten by mutants.

I would want the option if I felt like it I guess, but I wouldn't want to be forced to do it every time.

Sounds like a cool idea. Maybe your horse runs into the stable and fades away. And then when you call it, it reappears and comes to your exact location?

The Skyrim horses were a pain because of the way they appeared before you in fast travel and often disappeared, then you were screwed, it was gone. The ESO horse is way better I think. It also controls better and will do some pretty fancy moves. I like walking slowly around town and weaving my way through the people. The guys who just canter through always seem like hoodlums to me, racing around endangering the population. Terrible.

It will get you back in the fight fast too, in Cyrodiil. Having it disappear when I get off is no big deal, I'm usually entering a building or something. You can talk to pretty well all the NPCs from it without dismounting.

I was actually thinking of something like Dynasty Warriors where you can get off your horse and it will just stay where you left it but then you can call it at any point and it will teleport to a relatively near location to you and then run up to you as if it heard you whistle to it. Just for immersion's sake!

Dynasty Warriors plays a lot like the Cyrodiil war too, in a sense!

Has anyone said whether or not they will be adding other types of mounts? If so what kind and if not I definitely think they should consider maybe adding a couple more types, I know its not been an option in any of the other elder scroll games other than a hore but there are so many crazy creatures in this one, I think we could get one of those dinosaur looking creatures or something

Or what about companions of some kind, like in skyrim we could get buy a dog that wold help you in combat? now id really eNjoy that!

Yeah that would be cool, not all that hard to implement either, some more animations and some code.

T

There are a bunch of different horses with different stats and looks, but a Guar would be cool.

I think it would be intimidating rolling up on my Giant Mudcrab in PvP! I'd feed it loads of Troll Fat and Sweet Rolls so it would be super obese and just roll through the keep walls occasionally gripping a player or two with its pincers and eating them to. But seriously can anyone tell me where I buy the Giant Mudcrab mount?

Yeah that would be cool but just in a city for example, although you probably wouldn't see your own horse spawn, if a lot of other players are mounting then its likely that a horse will spawn on top of you while running to its master down the street. If you could find a solution for this or if I've misunderstood then that would be an awesome concept.

I think horses in the city would have to be permanently disabled. There's usually a higher player density in cities which means a lot of horses would be running around. When you enter the city, you auto-dismount and your horse goes to the stable (where you initially buy horses).

In any outside situation, I think what would have to happen is sort of an illusion. I think you and you only can see your horse running to you. Other players would see a horse fade in from within your proximity and see you get on the horse. If you dismount the horse, it will stay there for 30 seconds before auto running in any direction and fading away. You'd have to call it again to trigger the animation. This would stop the notorious horse mount spamming seen in games like TERA.

Walk on a horse is really quite slow. You can amble around in a very unthreatening manner. You could force it.

Actually as the horse appears behind and beside you, and then you mount it, it seems quite natural. It also kind disappears behind you when you dismount. It's well done.

For me, it's kind of like the same as "no arrow" bows and "no tools" resource gathering... summonable mounts are a MMO thing that either have or don't have,... ZOS desided on the former, so we'll have to live with it.

Fallen earth had it right, although many people where complaining about it. I liked having my vehicle at a garage en horse in stable and get them out of there when you needed it. But when your car broke down you had to walk all the way to the stable where the horse was waiting.

Saga of Ryzom also had it like that. Also you had to feed your mount so i had some haversacks in it's inventory.

Better is to have a mix of it, like SWG (pre-cu) had. There you could summon your pet/mount/vehicle and if you did not put them back in your datapad they stayed in the world. People complained about it there too, but the world did feel more alive.

Indeed. I believe this has been mentioned in reviews so I think it's safe to mention that you can also feed your horse once per day. Depending on what type of food you give him, he will gain a skill point in either speed, stamina, or .....I forget the 3rd lol

I honestly don't really see the point in persistent horses... other then immersion, that is. Right now, the game seams to be heavy on the "non persistent" side, with as little as possible actual world changes by the player. Now, if horses would have more utility... like accessable saddlebags or some such... hm.
