I see your point.but the thing with M&K is, it's not really noob friendly IMO. And as far as accuracy, does it really matter with RPG games such as FNV and FO 3?
You can easily spend hours playing both these games and comfort ( at least in my case) takes priority over accuracy etc.
It does take some getting used to. Back in the days of Morrowind I had more than 250 hours on that game before I moved to PC for that title. Up until then I had been playing console games for about 15 years, playing on the PC for only a few titles. It took me about 4 to 6 hours to be comfortable on the K/M and I had experience using the K/M in other games.
As far as accuracy goes, if you use VATS then no. But, if you don't use VATS and this is not in Oblivion, then it does matter to an extent. I don't remember if this was an option in Oblivion, but in Morrowind there was a way to control your attack based on the weapon you had. The mouse made it easier to do those attacks.
However it all comes down to what you like to use when playing the game. I just suggest that you use the K/M long enough to get comfortable with it as there are games that just do not work well with the controller. Just like I would suggest that folks who use the K/M all the time get comfortable with the controller if there is a game that you want to use that on. This way you have the best controller for each game you play.
At least now, with Games for Windows, you don't have to spend an entire day trying to get a controller to work with a game. With GFW titles, they are designed to work with the 360 controller along with the K/M. I remember the pains I would go through trying to get controllers to work with Morrowind for folks. I still shudder at those memories.
