Mouse Button Config For Dual-Wielding

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:20 am

Heres my question:

Seeing as you will be able to dual-wield...

Weapon + Weapon

Weapon + Shield

Weapon + Magic

Magic + Magic

Magic + Shield (that'll be cool)

....when using 'Weapon + Shield' (in Oblivion anyhow) the left mouse button was 'Attack' and right mouse button 'Block'.... Which is the reverse to whats held 'in hand'.

would the same apply for 'Weapon + Weapon' and 'Magic + Magic' where what you have in your 'left hand' is activated by the 'right button' ? for if i was using a 'Magic + Magic' combo i would like the left to activate the left and the right to activate the right.

do you think this is set in stone or will there be an option to switch between the two? either setup or on the fly.... or even depending on what combo you are using.

feedback would be awesome!

Whatever you put on the left hand is in the left button or trigger and vice versa  I didn't quite get if this was what you were asking for though :P

in Oblivion. the left mouse button was attack (right hand) and block right mouse button (left hand)

is this backwards rule going to apply for all things in seperate hands.....

I think what he was asking is will using the mouse to fight be the same as Oblivion, where you blocked with the right button and attacked with the left button, but incorporated with dual wield. I'm pretty sure that whatever is in your left hand will be used with the left click and right with right click. It would be dumb not to do it that way, but we won't know for sure till they tell us or until November 11th.

what my wonder is is that if you can dual-wield swords, and left click is attack and right click is attack, then what is block?

No, because each button will be locked to it's corresponding hand and you decide which hand has the shield and which hand has the weapon. In previous games, it was set.

ok, i'll try to make it even more simple.

in oblivion. the attack and block (LMB / RMB) activates the opposite hand. you click the left and he swings with the right.

this i do not want when dual wielding magic.

I think you can only block with shields and two-handers this time. What I'm hoping is that you can parry with one-handers by timing a regular attack and aiming at the enemy's weapon, but I doubt it will happen.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that this time, left click will always activate left hand, and right click will always activate right hand. If you have a shield in the left and a sword in the right, you will do the opposite clicks from Oblivion.

Maybe, I get what you're saying. You're used to left clicking to attack, which is using the right hand in previous games.

Even if it's not the default controls, you can most likely change them before you start the game.

in oblivion, it was possible to set it so right click does the attack right? don't see why you don't just do the same thing in skyrim.

btw, 11.11.11 = my birthday. skyrim gonna be the present i get for myself.

As I first posted, what you put in your left hand corresponds to left button or trigger...or vice versa.

Wasn't blocking with one handed weapons deniend?

P.S: I wonder with dual handed weapons though...left click to attack, right click to defend or do you to click both to attack :P

i'm pretty sure for PC you can remap ANY button, but i think the default will be LEFT-click swings right hand (mainhand) and RIGHT-click swings left (off hand).
i'm sure it'll be defaulted this way because in shooters such as COD that allow you to dual wield, leftclick = right hand and right click = left hand.
you can change it definitely. what i wanna know is how to parry attacks! i know that some shooters put melee for V and it's in a great spot! idk where/how parry will work, but if it's activated like in oblivion i'll probably map it to V so that i can get my dual wield on ;)

I wish this were true, often you can not change all the buttons, the f keys for example. Or the 2 in FNV(that was really dumb, but that was Obsidian).

Meh. Right click to attack isn't so weird. Go try DotA.
