Mouse Not Working Correctly

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:18 pm

My mouse isn't working correctly while I am playing Daggerfall. It is lagging, while everything else works fine. When I try to move the mouse, it moves, but it doesn't move half the time I try to move it. For example, If I tried to move it in a straight line right now, it would start to move, then pause, then move again, then pause, and it would continue, all why I am trying to move the mouse. I can't play Daggerfall like this. My mouse works perfectly fine when I'm not trying to play Daggerfall and this problem with Daggerfall and my mouse has been present since I first installed Daggerfall on my computer. I am using a laptop and its built-in mouse and I followed the instructions on Bethesda's official Elder Scrolls site to install the game. Also, no matter what I do, I can't get my character to attack. I've tried changing my attack key and it still won't work. All help will be appreciated.

Have you tried increasing your CPU cycles (ctrl-F12) or your frameskip (ctrl-F8)? The mouse lag you're describing sounds like the overall lag that's typical when Dosbox isn't getting the most out of the processor. Bump up your CPU cycles a bit (if you end up going too far and your performance gets worse, decrease by using ctrl-F11), and it should get better. For my laptop, around 20,000 cycles gets best performance. My desktop's is 40,000.
