Movement speed, what affects it?

Well basically im getting a bit confused here as to why i am getting my movement speed slowed if i have a holstered laser rifle equipped, as opposed to an holstered assault rifle.

Ive ruled out mods since even with no mods, my character still gets slowed down, so what i want to know is...is this the same for everyone? Does a holstered laser rifle/mini gun/missle launcher slow you down?

Oh and with the blackhawk unholstered, i still get a movement speed reduction. I thought only two handed weapons slowed you down when you had them unholstered?

Is this something to do with SPECIAL stats or what?

Heavier equipment slows your movement speed when it's equiped holstered or not. You just get a bigger slowdown when a weapon is unholstered. Theoreticly, the heavier the gun, the slower you move. As far as I know, all weapons slow you down when unholstered, not just rifles ang big guns.

Well i guess that guy has a pretty unique installation then.

Question is, what do you mean by heavier?

I know its NOT item weight, because the assault rifle has a weight of 7 and i changed the laser rifle weight to 7, and the laser rifle still slows me down more than an assault rifle....

That was just my first theory, I didn't try it out or anything. I mean, I haven't memorized the weight value of every weapon in the game. Anyway, on to my next theory: It may have something to do with your skill with that particular weapon type. How high is your energy weapons skill compaired to your small guns skill? Maybe the laser rifle would slow you down if your skill with energy weapons was lower. I'm pretty sure the weight of equiped weapons and armor does affect your movement as well.

What about you? Do you get slowed down with a holstered minigun as opposed to a pistol?

I have 100 in all weapons skills so thats not it...

Agility and armor. Weapons don't affect me much I find.

Well what's YOUR experience? I definitely move slower when my minigun is out at the ready, than when it is holstered. But it doesn't seem to affect me at all (movement speed) when I am using small guns at any time... only big guns.

i always thought a higher agility made you move faster, heavier armor/unholstered big and two handed weapons made you move slower....

In my experience i seem to move slower in tesla armor as compared to T-51B. I need to look in the GECK to see if armor slows you down.

Small guns will slow me down in tesla armor but the effect is much smaller than in T-51B.

Laser rifles or miniguns will slow you to a crawl though, both holstered and unholstered.

Hmm i dont see anything in GECK for armor that would slow the player down at all.

Both power armor and tesla armor is "light" armor. Im not sure if there are any "heavy" armors at all, and the armor itself has no value to slow players down.

So its either derived from weight or some other value.

Or something else entirely. This is annoying.

I can tell you that in power armor, it "feels" heavy and bulky. I "feel" slower for sure. I'm currently running around in the Leather Rebel from the Pitt, and I've never known such freedom, as I usually wear Reilly's Armor/Hellfire Armor. The only slowdown in "feel" for weapons is any big gun, at least in my experience.
