MovementSprint speed cap?

Post » Tue Mar 04, 2014 4:07 pm

I'm wondering if there is a movement speed cap for ESO.

Because if not, there are some scary combinations for insane high speed movement. Example: Orc, Medium armor, sorceror, with steed stone. (I also assume there are consumables to buff speed as well as enchantments etc.)

Why is it scary? Are they going to sprint right through the keep wall? I mean besides possibly not having to rely on a gap closer (yet it will still drain probably the same amount of stamina anyway) I don't see the problem.

Orc passives = +10% sprint speed

Boundless Storm = +30% move speed

Medium Armor Passive = +21% Sprint Speed with 7 med armor piece equipped.

Steed Stone = +10% movement speed?

+ Consumables, and special crafted armor that I might not know about yet. (didn't delve into crafting yet)

That's not scary to you? An orc traveling at over 171% sprint speed? You could never escape from this person, you'd have a hard time killing them as they could always run away, and they may also dance all around you in combat and make it difficult to fight them. That's why games usually have a movement speed cap, just like how other things cap, or softcap.

I agree pretty scary having an orc running at you at twice the normal speed.

in PVP, as a templar archer, I never had a problem escaping melee people running at me (unless I was overrun by a pack, pulled in with the chain move and eaten alive).

With the ardent spear move (knock-back) and the bow knock back move I was able to hold most people off to kill them or escape and join my fellows or lose them behind some rocks or buildings. I actually lol'd quite often just knocking people to the ground from far away and I never usually laugh at something on a screen.

In theory ping shouldn't alter movement speed at all, as your client will eventually tell the server where you're supposed to be. But the high ping player will stutter around, offering up a faux in-range attack for the enemy.

Thats odd cause i was with an american guy and he was out jogging me, i asked him if he was sprinting and he said no. its got me,

There is a Set item of 3 thats give you 50% or 15% reduction on sprinting

I'm fairly certain the Fjord set gives 15% to sprint speed
And the prisoner set gives 20% sprint stamina cost.

Well, assuming this character spent all that item budget on movement speed, he would then be at a disadvantage in combat against someone who spent all that item budget on damage or survival stats. So while yes, extreme mobility might be overpowered when escaping, or chasing, that character will be underpowered in going toe to toe.

You forgot that you can put the Divines upgrade on your armor which increases Mundus stone effects by 7% per piece, so consider that too when having the steed stone.
