Movies that could possibly show life in the Fallout Universe

Post » Tue Jun 16, 2009 1:14 am

Mad Max (triology of course)

Book of Eli

Tooth and Nail

Others as I get around to listing them

Anyone have some movies that they think would fit in the showing of Life in the Fallout Universe?

Dave Chase

(BTW, I would love to see a good Mad Max remake and have it and Fallout Online (V13) somehow be put together.)

Take any zombie movie, remove zombies and destroy everything a bit more xD

Well to be serious: The Postman. I think that represents a world that just have started to try and lap itself together again, but the world in that movie is a lot greener etc than the classic fallout world, but I still feel the emptiness and how people struggle to survive when I watch the movie.

Then there is the planet of the apes (no I'm not kidding), just replace monkeys with people and there you go :P Still not exactly falloutish but the basic lines of it, you have to look at the big picture xD Just how the "tribal humans" are always tracked down to a life of slavery (this can be projected as slavers hunting for slaves) then a bunch of other things I don't want to write about since it's like... a sh*t load of stuff.

I'm sure there are a bunch of stuff I've seen but I can't remember the name >,< Image

Star Wars!

I don't care if it's not canon, deathclaws with lightsabers would rock. Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
And maybe I'll say "Maybe"

Sorry,

Though Star Wars series are good movies, they don't even come close to being any like the Fallout Universe.

On Topic please. :)

Oh damn i forgot :D

The Stand - That is a very good movie I think, its falloutish in one perspective, survival, rebuilding etc but that movie/book ain't about after life of an atomic bombing, but I still get a fallout feeling about it... especially since there is fallout music in the movie  watch it and see for yourself (its a series actually but can be seen as a long movie :P).

All I can say is see it if you haven't, I love the Stand :P (but I dislike the ending a bit, but all the other parts are fun :D)

//about Le Dernier Combat - saw that Jean Reno is in it... im watching it! Image

Actually, I'd disagree. Both are science fiction and influenced fairly heavily by the Western genre. That said, my comment was tongue-in-cheek.

One of the best things about the Fallout series was its ability to take stuff from other genres / stories and incorporate them into a sort of twisted, post-apocalyptic setting. Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
And maybe I'll say "Maybe"

'The Road'
film - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/
book - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Road
both are great but the book is a fantastic dark and perverse read on humans living in a 'state of nature' where what life is left is 'nasty, brutish and short!'
the post apocalyptic vision of the film is great with whole of USA some sort of wasteland and its really eerie and cold. just how i imagined fallout world to look.
the book should be a great read for any fallout fan, you never even get to learn any of the characters names, you are just thrown into this hell like wasteland where murder for cannibalism and having kids then eating the new born babies is the norm. there are scenes in it where it is just like some of the raiders hideouts in the last fallout with bodies in various stages of being cut up and eaten.
dark and disturbing.
apart from that i like any of the Romero movies. Zombies are just a sideshow, they stumble around not really being evil, they just try to eat the living, when the living aint around they just walk about - not being nasty to each other. Romeros real evil villans are the humans - greed, avarice, racism, sixism, and lust for power are the real evils in his films - humans could survive the apaocalypse if they truly co-operated but somedody allways manages to mess things up and everybody gets eaten.
i like how each of his films has a different take on how a group tries to survive, often setting up different types of societies - ie capitalist or authoritarian etc
pz War, War never changes!
Why?
Because,
'War is the continuation of politics and policy with the admixture of other means..'

"Doomsday" is a pretty good movie to get a good view of an overpopulated raider camp

"The Road" is a depressing movie that instills hopelessness and shows the degradation of society/humankind. it also has a couple of small bands of "raiders"/cannibals.

Mex,
Sorry if I was sounding to strong on the On Topic please.

I was asking for movies that look/feel like Fallout, not movies that have similar stolen Western/SciFi/etc story lines. ;)

A Boy and His Dog

is one of my favorite B movies. I didn't mention it because I did not want to generate a huge list on my own. :)

Fan based site, fan based process. I want to see a fan list of movies. Besides, like Chris said, some of the movies listed might be new to some of us and we might find some of the new ones that we really like too.

Ahh fair enough.

It's not a movie, but this is possibly quite relevant. It's a series of photographs and stories from a guy motorcycling through chernobyl.

http://www.kiddofspeed.com/

Some fairly incredible imagery there. It doesn't have the desert / wasteland vibe typical of the original fallout games, but it definitely fits within the post-apocalyptic description. Maybe you'll sit and sigh, wishing that I were near
Then maybe you'll ask me to come back again
And maybe I'll say "Maybe"
