Moving Flamers to Explosives?

Post » Sun Jun 27, 2010 8:40 pm

I know many will disagree, but I think Flamer and Incinerator belong better in the Explosives category.

I'd like to know if I've transplanted them correctly and haven't forgotten anything.

Is changing "Skill" attribute from "Energy Weapons" to "Explosives" in the Weapon details tab everything I need to do to have those governed by new skill? It's all I can find that ties them to that skill - but it seems to be a bit too simple so I want to make sure here.

The answer is yes.

I opened the GECK and changed the flamer from an energy weapon, to a 'guns' weapon (Because I use guns). I noticed a significant increase in the DPS when in-game, so I'm guessing that's all that needs to be done.

That is indeed all you need to do.

You could change the icons and stuff if you really wanted to get fancy but why overcomplicate it?

Thanks. I hope Devs reconsider Flamers in Energy and move them where they belong, Explosives. They'd do it fancy then. :-)

Tell me you weren't surprised there's Flame in Energy category when you first found out.

I was, especially because explosives lacks two big things that make an effective primary combat skill: an effective DT-punching long-range weapon and something to get them out of your face when you've been rushed.

Moving flamers and incinerators over to explosives solves half the issue.

Might I recommend a gyroc-type weapon to solve the issue of a good DT-puncher. I'm teaching myself modeling to try to fix that issue :D
