Moving Hair

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:29 pm

Don't know if it's been discussed or not but just a FYI.

Some of you might have noticed the wife's hair moving as she tilted her head in the official footage from the opening scene. I was really excited about this. Hair physics!

Then I was watching some leaked footage of the same scene. It's just after she says, "Spin the mobile a bit, he loves that." She tilts her head and guess what? No moving hair.

Too bad. I guess it was pulled because of complications. NPCs still look good to me.

That could mean that the footage at e3 was probably the pc version and they were using all that fancy nvidia gameworks stuff. Or that' stuff might be in a day 1 patch.. who knows.

Huh.. that's interesting. Maybe the leak he saw is from a guy playing on pc on lower settings or something. This is what happens when things leak.. lot's of confusing info comes into play.

According to the engine changes, we will have animated hairs (confirmed with one of leaks), and animated cloth/armors (not confirmed so far)

Im hoping for physics in things like swingsets. Hated that the swingsets in Fo3 were static and didnt move.

All of the little detail features like that are said to be working across all platforms regardless of choice in the graphics article from a few days ago.

It was always kinds subtle in that scene to begin with. We need better examples.

So I can have static hair and 60 frames or moving hair and 10 frames...... I'll stick with no moving hair

It's not Nvidia Hairworks/AMD TressFX levels of quality, you should be able to run it.

I hope so. Does the physics system also extend to clothing?

I have always wanted a trench coat in Fallout that looks the beans

Yeah, it's just using some kind of animated bone system probably. Fallout 4 isn't using Hairworks or TressFX. Obviously - from the footage. Should run fine on any system.

I think they're using the same setup they had for Harkon's vampire lord cape from Dawnguard (that's the thing that sparked the Physics Extension mod in Skyrim if I'm not mistaken).

I'm not that bothered about moving hair tbh, it's not a shampoo commercial :-)

What I'd really like to know is, as I've asked quite often, is has the save/load system been improved? Is it still a big jumbled mess of a list where things are accidentally overwritten, or do we have character tabs like Dragon age?

Well yeah me too I seen other hair that works too and yeah I'm gald we having wavy hair we don't have to rely on MOD's for it and especially clothing.

Man I'm going to find me a trench coat for sniper guy or something familiar.

I foresee this thread being locked if you guys are discussing what you've seen in leaked footage.

Here's a concept... stop watching garbage unpatched footage. Everything being shown now is evaluation copy stuff which means a lot of the content may not even be in there.
