Moving to Perth...Best ISP provider info request

Post » Sun Mar 23, 2014 7:00 pm

I am moving to Perth in about 3 months, from NZ.

I was wondering if any Perth locals, or any of my Aussie brothers and sisters can help.

I am looking for the best isp provider based on;

1. Speed

2. Reliability,

3. Value for money

* Uses:

a. Documents & Graphing

b. Work communications programmes

c. TESO :smile:

The above three may not be in the order of preference :smile:

I have checked some majors, but they seem reluctant to list actual speeds per mbps up/download.

ADSL+2 is all I seem to be able to get.

At the moment I am on Ultra Broadband in NZ.....today/yesterdays update downloaded at 4.7 -5.3 mbps for me.

Thanks in advance

I don't know much about specifics but having tried a number of ISPs, Internode works best for me. Has a good reputation too it seems, especially for gaming.

I'm on the other side of the continent however.

I am with Primus, I have been with them for ages, I live in a regional area so dont get as good as I could get in the city. Primus have a number of different plans, you can check it on their web site

It'll depend on where you end up in Perth.

This thread is probably gonna get moved because it's not relevant to the topic board but I'll try to help anyway.

I've been with all the big three.

Telstra Bigpond

Internode

iinet

And I've gotta say that when I use to be on a pretty tight budget Internode use to be the best, they've got ADSL 2+ 25/2mbps plans which are pretty reliable and if you've got something like naked DSL available in your area you can get pretty low latency as well as very good ADSL speeds because there's no noise on the line.

Telstra is the most reliable but they're the most exspensive obviously, I'm on Telstra Bigpond right now and they've really improved their customer service of late, you can call them almost any time of day and get to them in 2-5 mins to someone who's actually Australian.

iinet was nice but I honestly didn't see a huge difference in them between Internode, they provide pretty good modems as an incentive if that's something that can sell you to an ISP, the speeds are pretty much the same as Internode but sometimes they can be worse and charge more for faster speeds which is lame their GB allowance per month is probably better than Telstra because they give a good mix of affordability and good date allowance.

Thanks for replies so far.

I know possibly off topic....but then, I'm trying to sort out playing TESO reliably when I move...so I can still give my monthly sub fees over :)

Be kind mods...I want to give you my money :)

Thanks.

Telstra will give you good service and very good reliability, but it'll be the dearest of the ISP's out there that you can chose from. Not all of the ISP's will be able to give you ADSL2+ either, depending on where you will be living. For the most part Perth is covered, but there are small pockets of dead zones.

Also, look to see when the NBN(fibre optic) is being installed in your area in Perth.

I don't know when Perth is getting it, but they are installing in Sydney currently.

I've tried a few (Sydney not Perth) and Internode has been the best by miles. Good value too.

Iam from WA, in our area we have the nbn fibre optic with internode. Our plan has 25/5mbps and I've been really happy with it.
