Moving Saves from Xbox to PC?

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 8:25 am

Is it possible to move my XBOX one saves for fall out 4 to my PC?

Reason:

I have my Xbox set up in its own room. My pc is a gaming laptop and can go anywhere.

Im currently spending hours sat on my own in my "xbox room" and my wife is getting rather upset.

I really need to get fallout 4 on my pc, I also need the save files, because if not I have to start again, and it will take me weeks to catch up.

Thanks guys

They are not compatible. Saves will only work on the same type of console (PC/PS4/XBOX) from whence they originated.

Once someone starts working on a version of Wrye Bash or something similar it may be possible, but I seriously doubt it.

No and it is also illegal. So it's not allowed for discussion on the forums.

don't see why it shouldn't work, if you can transfer the files themselves.

file ending for pc should be .fos, if that's different on xbox.

it can't do mucg worse to try than not start or crash your game anyhow :-)

edit: ok got ninja'd by this

forgot what i wrote then...

how can it be illegal transferring a save if you own copies for xbox and pc? ain't no law that could forbid that.

s7o, read your EULA's...you don't 'own' anything, you only have it under licence.

That's pretty much the reason. The EULA means that the Console manufacturer and the game developer owns all your content that is on the platform or disk you own. And they have laws against porting content onto other platforms. Some developers might not care too much but it is still illegal and against the rules of the forums to discuss.

In US and other places perhaps. But EU have already done away with most "license" trickery. Not advertising the game as a rent, but advertised as you "buying" the game, is illegal in the EU because it is misguiding the consumer.

Example;

You can sell whatever you want in the EU, regarding software.

These are still a US based forum under US laws. Regardless of the EU and the fact they did away with most EULAs doesn't matter here. Unless we've changed our rules on the matter it's the same as it's always been.

That's it...forum owner's rules win.

It sure is, but you two talked about the game EULA. So if OP is living within the EU, mentioning the manufacturers EULA doesn't mean a thing.

Also, I couldn't find anywhere in the forum rules, that discussions about savegames is not allowed. I could have overlooked it tho.

So perhaps a mod could clarify this?

That linked reference is irrelevant, it only relates to the on-selling of licences, as in the selling of second hand programs....the court ruling doesn't invalidate the content or authority vested in the EULA.

It sets presedence that consumers can do with their license as they see fit, including selling it, and they hold every right over that one license. I could present some more examples, but I really like a ruling if discussing savegames are permitted or not on these forums.

You are talking mumbo-jumbo, and jumping to conclusions...it clearly only relates to the on-sale of the licence, which is only one small aspect of most EULA's. It can't invalidate the entire EULA, otherwise it would set precedent which would likely invalidate all third party rights, including intellectual property rights, and copy right.

Don't believe anything anyone says here about discussing save games being illegal, in the United States or Europe.

A mod can step in at any point and state what the forum position is. That has not happened.

Bethesda can step in at any point and state how they interpret the EULA. That has not happened.

A legal counsel can state their opinion at any point. No one identified as a lawyer has done that.

Anything else is just blowing smoke.

Except for what is written in the EULA...

...and the debate isn't about discussing saved games being illegal, just maybe not within forum rules of the context of the original question, with a side track on the why's and wherefores.

Previous games was portable between platforms. One tips on the bugged vampire cure in Oblivion was to send the game to someone who had the pc version, get them to fix it and send it back.

This changed in Skyrim? might be too save memory on consoles.

Legaly tampering with an savegame breaks US copyright laws. yes its insane and you would not be punished.

Bethesda set the rules on this forum, they can forbid the use of the number 9 if they want.

wow you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. Here's what you do OP

startup your console version next startup your PC version use your console version as template for PC version. Yes you will lose time, but you are playing a single player game there is no falling behind. It's not a race and in a single player game you don't need to catch up to anyone or anything.

Not like the game is going anywhere.
