moving skyrim from HDD to SSD without restarting?

hi all, is it possible to move skyrim from an HDD (my D drive) to SSD (my C drive with OS and that's it, with plenty of space in it) without restarting a new game?

i did the mistake of installing skyrim on my games HDD instead of SSD. I have skyRedone and 10-12 mods, it's not the steam version.

Do you think there is a way or it's impossible? i guess i should fix all the registry settings that point to my D drive to point to C and i don't think that's really feasible.

Anyone has more info on that?

thanks

If it was the Steam Verions, then you could just move the library and the game would move.

But, your going to have to reinstall for best results. You can copy the Data Files folder out of the root install directory, that contains your mod files. So, you can put that on your new install. If you updated the INI's grab those too. While the game should not mess with your Save files, unless you tell it too, you can make a back up of those files also.

Note, any mod tools you have will be best reinstalled after you move the game. They will try to look in the original location for your mods and that will cause some serious weirdness. So, install the tools after you move the game. Which of course means your not grabbing the Mopy folder or other folders that the tools use when your copying over the Data Files Folder.

Also, if you used a Mod Manager, then you don't have to download the mods again, so a fresh install of the game and mods should not take that long.

Thanks, can you please tell me the exact steps to do?

what is the mopy folder?

I was thinking of reinstalling all, installing skyre with the correct procedure and then exactly all the same mods that i have now. then copying back my saved game folder, hoping it will be ok. Wouldn't this be easier? why should i copy the data folder too? If i do the same steps i did the first time, the data folder should be the same, no?

It is best to reinstall the mods from scratch on a fresh game install. If your wiling to do that, then don't worry about the Data Files folder, leave it or delete it after uninstalling the game. The uninstaller should not mess with your saves, and no matter where you install the game, it will look in the same place for them. So, you don't have to do anything with them. However, I always back up my Saves folder before an uninstall, just in case.

Mopy is the folder for Wrye Bash/Mash, one of the tools you need to run mods on this game. At least if you want the mods to work together. If your not familiar with this, then you probably did not install it or use it. Same with BOSS I would imagine.
