Moving Skyrim save to another account?

Post » Wed Oct 23, 2013 11:28 am

I have two user accounts on my PS3 that I've been using to play two different Skyrim games. The save game on my main account is one that I don't play with anymore, and I wouldn't mind deleting it if it meant that I could transfer the save game from my secondary account to my main account. However, I get that message that "This save belongs to another user" and I can't save over it or unlock trophies. How can I transfer my save game from my secondary account to my main account?

If it helps, I don't have a PSN ID on my secondary account, only my main.

I've looked around and found lots of tutorials for resigning saves using BruteForce or a HexEditor, but none of those methods have conclusively worked for a Skyrim game. I've actually found plenty of comments saying that while the tutorial worked for Borderlands 2, or whatever other game, they couldn't get it to work for Skyrim. Is there ANY way that I can transfer my game to my main account? Thank you!

Weird, I remember when I could just play the darn game....

Try logging in under the profile that has the save you want, then put the save on the HDD. Then, login to the other user and see if you can pull the save from the HDD. You may also try the PS3 Cloud, if your part of that, that seems to have more success as the cloud service was designed for sharing saves.

I'm not sure how to save the game to my HDD, that doesn't seem to be an option anywhere and I've found some other forums that say only certain PS3 games have the option to be saved on a HDD. I'm not sure if they were talking about just saving a game to the HDD, or trying to put the game data on the HDD so that it would load faster. Either way, I'm not sure this would work, since I've tried copying my save to a USB jump drive and pulling it up on my main account. I get the same error message.

I'm not part of the Playstation Plus, but as I'm planning on getting a PS4 when it comes out, I wouldn't mind signing up a month early if it meant that I could use the cloud service to fix this problem. My only question is this - wouldn't I have to sign up twice for Playstation Plus, once for my main PS3 account and one for my secondary account? I can't use my regular PSN account on my secondary PS3 user account as it is.

You can't have two Skyrim characters. If you have a game already started on your PS3 user profile, and you start another game, it overwrites the first one. So I kept my game on my profile and started a secondary profile so I could play a second Skyrim character. Now I never use the game on my main profile, and I want to transfer my game from my secondary profile to my main profile. It won't let me because it thinks the game belongs to another PS3 user, but its just another user profile of mine.

What's happening to you is that you are only relying on the Autosave, and so when you started a second character, the autosave overwrote the autosave of the first character.

I hate to say this but you likely lost your first character, but this problem can easily be prevented in the future by creating a save file yourself instead of relying on autosave.

You can do this by hitting "start" on your controller while you're playing the character.

Then at the far right tab, it should be called "settings". From there, you will see a button called "Save" and from there you can create Save Files for that character.

And it's useful because you can create different character builds without having to start over.

You can have as many as you want as long as you save them on separate files, in different save slots !!!!!. Your old one must have been saved on an auto save so when you started again it got replaced !!!!

You don't need 2 accounts for that !!!!!

So when you make a new character just make a new save file !!!!!. Do not overwrite your old save. !!!!!

DO NOT delete or save over it, or next time you start a character it will create a new one, deleting whichever save is "save 1"

The PS3 creates an autosave right before you choose your race. If you overwrite THAT save, and start a new character,

it wil use that slot again at the start of the character selection screen.

I recommend leaving that save spot alone, and creating 2-3 new saves per character. !!!!

Cheers !!!!!
