Moving on

Oh okay, I wasn't aware of that, but it makes sense. Would it be a faction available to the RP'ers? Are they there simply for a raiding purpose, gaining riches and what not before returning home. Or do you plan on them settling down more (though I guess that would take some focus away from the Altai)?

If needed I can take a city, because I'm decently active, and don't plan on disappearing like last time around :/

On a side note, I hope people don't go overboard on the whole horse archery thing, because it's a skill that's surprisingly hard to master, one that can only be done by a life time of riding and shooting!

Tayroc is doing the nords. He wanted to have "burley mountain men of Colovia" but I gave him a bit of back story. They're kind of a minor side faction RPed by him.

I think Anvil would be open.

There's a bunch of misunderstandings concerning horse archery, how it works and what is use was in history that i'll discuss later on.

Speaking about adventurers. Since the Nords and nomads will be much less restricting, and loose. Could we maybe play as an Adventuring nord (or nomad), ransacking and taking whats needed etc.? Considering that most of the adventurer players, will probably be either sided with Colovia or the Merchants Guild, maybe some adventurer players from the other side might be acceptable?

Of course that'll be fine just keep in mind what you'll be doing. You might end up RPing with yourself unless you place yourself right.

Immortal, Ambrose and I talked.

Would you care if I took a knight under Hallissador's (SP?) command? it would give interaction, and I'd be useful.

Also I was reading the PGE today and I have an idea. Some of the Redguards went into deep Hammerfell and interbred with the Nords, and those people are actually referred to as "nomads"...hmm...and I think they would look more like turks on my speculation.

No, stop bugging Ambrose.

Alright so far we have the RP as thus: Colovia's Legions are disbanded/withdrawn by the Empire living the region on its own. Through the past few years the Merchant Guild in the area has risen to prominence and acts as a de-facto leader leaving the counts as the leaders pretty much only in name. That doesn't sit well with them. At the same time you have various tribes of the Altai beginning to probe Colovia looking for grazing lands for their flocks and new hunting grounds for unknown reasons. The two tribes we have so far is the Kypchak, also known as the Celestial Altai who have a long history and tradition as the old Khanates knowledge keepers but are now only a shadow of their former selves. Then there are the Hunni, a warlike tribe much more prone to seeking the quickest way to determine conflicts who's raids against neighbor Altai and other peoples has netted them to many resources and holdings.. The actual interplay for the RPer will mostly be in adventure format as the Altai interact with the Colovians while at the same time the Colovian counts try to affirm their rule and demolish or at least weaken the Merchant's Guild economic strangle hold on the region.

Question Immortal: After reading that (which doesn't sound to bad,) would/do the Counts act as say for example, The Queen of England, or the King of Sweden? Rather than have absolute power (like they once had) they're more just a figure head, and don't really have much say like the Merchants Guild does. Because after reading that, it's kinda how it came off to me? I just wanna be able to picture them in the right fashion, rather than having to second guess what exactly their power is so far.

Thanks for the reply and clarification. :icecream:

Yea it's a basic rough draft just to get a shape of the idea. I did the same thing with SoS and people weren't thrilled at first.

Well counts would still rule their cities but the fact of the matter is that the Merchant Guild could easily hurt them economically by flooding their markets with weaker currency. For example you take a typical silver coin, melt it down and mix it with iron and make 5 coins out of it. It isn't like the Merchant Guild can pass laws or anything but if the counts get on the bad side pretty soon the economy could go bad and they get riots in their streets. But this is more so for the political RPers to worry about. If you are interested in court intrigue (I plan on adding a Colovian court type setting for all the counts and nobility) you'll participate in that. If you are interested in exploration, adventuring etc, you'll be doing that and the political aspect while being part of the setting, won't be something you need to worry about. I'm just letting people focus on what aspect of the RP they like to participate more in, but having it all work together.

It's kind of like this. 2 people are playing chess and they see the game from a birds eye view. That's the political RPer. The adventurer RPer is right on the chess board. He knows exactly how that Bishop just took that Rook. He may even be that Bishop. But of course the pieces don't always have to do what the chess player wants.

Alright new update.

The Merchants Guild will be run sort of like an NPC faction so that we can use it to drive the plot. Anticlere has taken Colovia and Ambrose has taken Skingrad. Now if someone else wants to take Anvil.

Also this isn't needed but Atomic and I thought it would be best to have a third Altai tribe. Something based off of Avars, Bulgars, Merkits, Jurchen, Manchus, whatever. Aside from this I think I can have the RP up sometime this week or the next. Something more fleshed out will be posted than just the bare minimum.

Alright so the RP story and factions have been fleshed out much more. I've talked with some people personally and this is an update on what is going to happen. The RP will probably be up after finals are done however.

Skingrad - Ambrose
Chorrol - Anticlere
Anvil - Solidor

Hunni - Atomic
Saka - Blademaster
Kypchak - IB

Colovian highlanders - Tayroc

This is just the frame that the RP will set on.

And I was getting all excited about my mannimarco plot that was arising... :\ Shame...

I guess the plot I had been keeping under wraps, brewing since SoS in my mind actually wasn't so exciting and helped kill the rp, huh?

Anyways, what with the finals approaching in college and the holidays, I can't guarantee my participation. Besides, any characters I would consider (the BB, Samuel Ross, etc.) for the rp have seemed to be slowly losing their charm. It'd be hard to transfer them through yet another jump, as well. I might just sit this one out. Perhaps even put my mercenaries to rest finally. They've been slowly dying out anyways.

No it isn't your fault at all. It's a combination of factors, mostly some of the people who took city roles and then just never posted or rarely did. There wasn't a single post from Wayrest or Daggerfall for weeks and weeks on end. All in all I think High Rock or province wide RPs for the most part are just too spread out to work to that extent.

Alright the RP idea is pretty much solid now. I am considering posting it after new years as i'll be out of town around Christmas. I may post the story up in this thread just to give people a feel for it.

When do you think the rp will be up in full?

Exams are coming up and I'm a tad bit desperate for marks so will be busy.

That's what i'm thinking. Most people have finals this week or the next, and then after that it's Christmas and then New Years so i'm thinking around January 2nd or so.
