I would love it if pipboy didnt pause the game but ive heard from people at quakecon that it does.

Anyone know for sure?

If it does pause in regular mode i hope it doesnt in HC

So ive been led to believe. Have we seen any confirmation ?

How clear was the pause (ive read on reddit it might have been slow down like vats but ive also read pause)

People from Quakecon giving firsthand accounts. We'll have to see for ourselves when the Quakecon footage eventually comes to us.

Most other menus like hacking or looting don't pause the game, though. I guess having the Pipboy pause time is a fair compromise.

Controlling time, stopping time at any time and any number of times and healing is a terrible cheat mode

Cheat mode.

What if enemies could stop time at any moment and heal up to full lets say 5 times? Or 10? Or 100? Since stims have no weight and no limit? Sounds good and fair right?

The second screen pipboy (smartphone app) does not pause according to tweet by hines so i really hope you can play hc with no pause as well.

(Agree) Nothing is fair, all the NPC's are at a huge disadvantage compared to you the main character. The Pip boy pausing time does nothing to cheat the game.

I always play DID, as you say being able to reload any second before something went wrong takes all fun and excitement out of the game.

Why reload at all why not just remove death? I mean changing the past vs surviving anything the latter is just a tad more ok.

But again i dont care how big cheat modes you need. Auto reload, pause stimpak, whatever.

As long as i get a hc mode where it isnt possible to heal to full while stopping time (removing the need to reload at all, unless you got the reflexes of senile mole)

Bleh.

This would be okay if it were possible to look around you while these were open, but if not then time should be paused. I'm not a fan of the idea that I'll be doing something, get shot at, and then I'll be forced to fight a UI before I can fight the enemy in game.

Yeah, but it's Matty, who is known for being a bad source for information and baseless speculation. Pretty sure people with a first hand account at Quakecon can confirm otherwise. Hell, even some of our fellow forum members were at Quakecon and can confirm it for us probably.

As for pausing in your inventory in the middle of combat to heal, it's been something done in RPGs for a long time. And while some can see it as an unfair advantage against an enemy (although enemies also have the ability to heal themselves in the middle of combat as well in some games, including Bethesda games), the main consequence of doing so is simply lost resources. If your stimpaks are numbered, the player will have to determine when and when not to use them. Should I just heal right now because I don't think I will survive this, or should I just hold out and see if I can pull through? This is especially important early game when you have very few items.

So while others may see it as cheap, there are still consequences behind it.

Biggest question is "Does using the second screen pipboy bring up the pipboy on the main screen as well?" - If not then not pausing the game would be PERFECT because you wouldn't shove the pipboy screen right in front of your face anyway. The only time you would see the pipboy on the main screen should be if you aren't using the second screen option.

Unfortunately I don't think this will be the case... Would be cool it it did though.

I'm not faulting the guy, he is very enthusiastic about things, and hes not trying to spread miss information. But he occasionally makes some mistakes. Translation hes Human. Not a wannabe lore god like some other podcasters out there. Sorry I gave people the impression I was attacking him.

Shesh.

My guess is that the second screen pipboy does not synchronize with the first.

This would be more work to implement.

Second screen might also result in that pipboy don't pauses, in this case its important to have lots of shortcut keys.

So is VATS, so what is your point?

As others have said, Mat isn't exactly a good source. He is just another [censored] on the internet without any sort of insider knowledge. Take everything that he says as speculation or ninja'd and regurgitated from other sources.

And vats isnt paused anymore. And you could not use VATS endlessly, nor could you heal in it. So VATS is not like that at all

VATS is super cheaty. The addition of making it like Bullet time is certainly an improvement, but its still an overall bonus that is designed to be abused. Its the noobtube or hundred-hand-slap of Fallout.

Nothing close to be able to endlessly stop time and heal to full.

One is one time power tool for killing that needs to recharge, the other beyond broken.

Considering that VATS usually makes it so that you don't need to stop time and heal to full, I disagree.

Usually is the key word here.

Pausing time endlessly and healing to full does not usually work. It always works. Over and over and over.
