So Much For Freedom of Movement..

I rented the Brink game for cheap. Played it. Suprised there was alot of issues especially lag where I could not even play the game at all. Even when they were sure they were confident to release the game early... Wow. I had alot of hype for this game. Trust me that hype was worth it. I love this game making it my top 5. I don't like Campaign at all though either, just played 5 minutes of it. When these issues are finished Imma be a very very happy person.

What caught me off guard was the game said Freedom of Movement. Yeah, you can climb walls, jump against them, slide, and more. However, I feel Halo:Reach is more smooth then Brink and the controls and movement are clean. With Brink the controls felt slow with movement and jump. Anyone feel it?

The controls feel fine. There is plenty "freedon of movement". I would much rather have Brinks controls than Halo's. Infact i wish you could move around cover in every FPS like you can in Brink

It takes some getting used to when compared with other FPS games - the movement actually feels more like a cross between Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed than regular FPS controls - if you give it a chance, it's MUCH better, but there's a learning curve.

Also, Play as a Light...

Never played Halo, but going back and trying other shooters is horrible because they don't have ANY freedom of movement. I don't think I'll ever go back to MAG or BC2.

People say "oh SMART is a let down I can't parkour up the Founders' tower or jump 10 meters in the air CoD does the same thing blah blah" without realising that Brink drastically changes the way you play a shooter; with the possibities like sliding, quick vaulting over cover, climbing head-high obstacles to scale stories, etc.

They focus on what it doesn't bring to the table rather than what it actually does. I went and played a couple rounds of MAG and it was annoying, climbing the simplest of waist-high objects had to be done by awkwardly jumping. SMART just opens up the environment so much and allows it to be utilised as great tactical asset, more so than it is in a lot of shooters I've seen. It definitely gives you a lot more freedom of movement.
