So much for our starter islands back....

Post » Thu Mar 20, 2014 10:43 pm

i would hardly call it a fix as much as a hot mess. I mean when i played in the previous beta the game flowed from one zone to the next it was perfection, this last beta on the other hand left me upset on more levels than you know look at the polls in an earlier post no one wanted this crap the poll speaks for itself even the people complaining about the starter island are unhappy with the way in which it was handled.

Loot coldharbor blind, it is worth it for the lockpicks alone, the vast array of starter weapons, armor, etc. is just gravy.

Which part is the hot mess? The part where you can play through the starter islands the exact same way you did before? Or the part where other people aren't forced to?

Seriously. Maybe you should just unplug your computer and then come back tomorrow.

The part where you show up in a big city with a sword and have zero direction, dont know where to go or what to do then find a quest and get killed by an obviously much higher werewolf beast thing by a bridge and than realize your other quests are broken so you wander off into the wilderness hoping that when you finally get away from the white horse filled piece of crap city with many folks asking where do i go next in you realize that in their ridiculous attempt to simulate previous iterations of elder scrolls games that they inevitably failed. I mean im sorry im glad you guys enjoyed that crap it just wasn't something i enjoyed at all.

And you trolls are the reason this game is now crap thanks.

For me mainly the dialog and how the story flow -- ZOS just had to do a massive rewrite to bring it back in the current state. It will take a lot of work, but the story flow can be flow again. I am willing to work with ZOS. I still the old way better, but I can also roll with the punches as well.

Well, arriving in a big city with a sword and a vague sense of where to go next is a hallmark of the series. That said, find the dock. Go to the starter island. They've already said they're making additional tweaks after the last beta, but for the love of Talos, there was nothing in this last one stopping you from having the exact same starter island experience as before.

So... TES.

Then you ran into a bug and had a meltdown. Or something.

Oh, so it's not so much about the starters islands alone.. it seems you hate everything? You should have said that in the first place.

In that case. This game isn't for you. I don't like Call of Duty, but I'm not over on their forums right now telling them about it.

what you just described is EXACTLY what we had in morrowind and thats EXACTLY why i fell inlove with morrowind!

it forced you to use you mind and learn! it forced you to grow and think for yourself. it presented danger and a reason to Think!

so sick and tired of people wanting thier hands held thru all the entire games made today!

finaly some one is doing it the way it was done in morrowind.

1. As an RP'er you should enjoy the much more realistic situation of there being a couple swords left around instead of an entire armory

2. The sword is the lowest level of weapons and can be replaced almost immediately after the tutorial, you can also find other weapons in the tutorial

3. The game made it explicitly clear where to go, I had no problem getting back to the starter islands, if you failed to do so that failure is on you, not the game

4. Sorry to hear you could not handle the mobs around the city, once again your fault not the game's

It's cool, just probably a good idea to chill and regain perspective.

It's a tough crowd huh.

So you've got a small amount of pain (for you) to go through, and then you are back to the good stuff. Not sure why this presents any real issue, and yes I did start a new character last beta and while I found it a little tedious, probably because last time I was smelling flowers and taking my time, this time I smashed through it. Come release I'll slow down again and take my time, but really what's the real issue you have, surely it's not this.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong (like that would be a problem) but If I recall, the teleport to the city after Coldharbor happened only on alts (I remember seeing a message stating that since I had already completed Coldharbor on another character I was being transported to the city, when I started a new alt on Sunday. We all will be starting the game from scratch so do we go straight to the starter islands on our first character.

Its mostly the way in which they changed it, i dont mind the option to have a more "Sandbox" start to the game but i feel as if they ripped apart the story and flow of the game as well as alienated the folks that liked it the way it was. But the sandbox start should have been tacked on as an option and not the other way around. I mean what author writes a book and then because some small percentage of readers thought the first few chapters was boring than completely rewrites them but does it in a rushed and messy manner. This is my issue if they are willing to do this what else are they willing to do without putting alot of thought into it?

it dosent send you to the starter island at all you still go to the city going back is "optional" even on a new character you just have to finish the prison first.

Sadly, I can pretty much guarantee you it wasn't a small percentage of players. The developers have access to the full results of those surveys we all filled out, and it looks like there was enough demand to make the starter islands optional.

Yeah, don't confuse a forum poll with user feedback to ZOS. My question about Coldharbor was not about new characters but first (initial) characters.
