So much gaming goodness around the corner

Post » Mon Feb 24, 2014 7:54 am

Path of Exile's first expansion comes out in 10 days. Diablo III's new loot system and expansion comes out a few days later. I'm currently in the Alpha for EverQuest Next Landmark and then there's ESO early access at the end of March.

I KNOW where I'll be on March 30, but omg, all those other options are going to be whispering in my ear.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall comes out next week, it is the sequel to last years Shadowrun Returns, and don't forget Shadowrun Online, coming this year as well.

Archeage is basically a expanded Dekaron from what i've seen, even the UI is similar, just updated.

Betting on epic grindfests, pervy dressed female characters, lolicon, strangely designed mobs, and a ton of cat-like characters. Cash shop, obviously, selling glasses (the anime crowd has a hardon on glasses). Usual asian mmo crap.

Have you played Path of Exile? I'm still playing it a year later. I'm looking forward to the D3 expansion, but PoE beat the pants off existing D3 imo.

Yep. Can't get past level 16 before getting bored. Tried many times.

It's going to be a good year for gaming. Dark Souls 2, ESO, Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Witcher 3 and Bound By Flame to name a few I'm buying. Good year but an expensive one.

They are very different in essence (and in artwork). Archeage has some features that haven't been seen in mmorpgs since a long time ago. It seems to be truly sandbox for one. Time will show...

Dark Souls II too!!! \o/

oohh!

I hope PoE's mini-expansion content can be fully played on normal mode. I get bored with the aRPG model of playing through the game several times, but I do think PoE is great for the full playthrough.

I tried twice and gave up, so I know what you mean. The currency system is weird, too. But the 3rd time was a charm. Making it to Act II makes a big difference and is easy. I started a new HC this morning and got it up to Act II, I think level 18 or so. It gets a lot more fun when you get deeper into the passive tree and can really build effective builds. There are things about it I don't like, but that passive tree is just frikkin awesome. I would love to see another game use something that open ended and free-form as a skill tree. It's the best part of the game.

Diablo was such a fail I'm shocked to hear people still waste time and money on that game, there once was a time when Blizzard made great games.

Guess every empire falls.

Man, I heard so much about Dark Souls I tried it on Steam and could never get it running right on my PC, couldn't configure my keys. Hope DS2 doesn't have that problem.

I agree that D3 was a huge disappointed, and gave up on it completely. But the changes they've made in the expansion go to my biggest complaint regarding the loot and AH (basically, they are taking after Path of Exile here), and if it weren't for ESO coming out less than a week later, I'd be playing the new Crusader class and trying it out. But hey, first things first. ESO is going to eat up most of 2014.

Thief comes out this week. Either I'll be extremely happy, or enter into a depression as I remember how great it used to be. We'll find out on Tuesday.

Ditto, one of my buddies is playing the 1st one and said it's awesome, but I had the same issue with PC... Hate when companies port games from consoles to PC, such a cheap-out.

When I first played DS1 I thought it was awful as an rpg and I had the same problem. I persisted though because I was bored at the time and also found these:

http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/19/?

http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/28/?

After I managed to make it playable, since it's an awful port too, I went through the first boring and "confusing" areas and after that... it completely captivated my soul.

Now it's one of my favorite games ever.
