Phitt: Bravo on creating such an interesting mod. I am sure you are a big fan of Portal ;)

PS: Wih FCOM, I get a bunch of goblin spawns near Mudwater, and they manage to kill one of the inhabitants if I am around...thank God for console resurrect...

Hey there Phitt, this is a really cool mod and I've finally got round to visiting the place some 5 months after I installed it, having discovered it while doing the KOTN DLC. I've been doing the quests and finding them really fun. However I've run into an unfortunate problem with the Solid Thoughts quest:

I've just got to the Dream Sequence part (which was a really cool twist by the way - I loved Vilya's response when we first arrived "So where are we going now?", so appropriate) but when I arrived at Twinkle's shed it CTD after a few seconds. At first I thought that Vilya might have caused a conflict, so I reloaded and left Vilya and Wolfgang in wander mode outside of Hides-Her-Mind's tent and then tried to do the Dream Sequence again but it CTD at the same point. I have tried this several times with the same result.

Edit: I've also tried leaving Vilya and Wolfgang outside of Mudwater completely but still I get the same result.


Has anyone else run into similar problems?

I've completed the said quest without CTDs. Do you have the latest version of Mudwater (Phitt had released a new esp later).

Also, I am expecting you to use OSR with that long a modlist.

Yes I definitely have version 1.2, I waited until the issues with KOTN were ironed out before installing. I do indeed use OSR 4.1.24 (haven't upgraded to .26 since it doesn't seem all that different, not to mention it seems to be getting considerably more complicated) with Heap Replacement 6 at 1024 size. ln.esp is louder nirnroots just a simple sound replacer, Starx-OVB Patch.esp is a patch for Starx Vampires and Order of the Virtuous Blood neither of which should be an issue here.

The mod plays a tune in Twinkle's shed. Is the number of sound channels OK - there is a WB tweak that lowers it for better performance, maybe that's an issue? Raise it say to 32 channels, and re-check. Do you use a separate soundcard?

My soundcard is an intergrated one, I use the Quiet Feet WB tweak rather than the mod it appears to work just fine in all cases I've come accross. I'll look up the sound channels and see if that works.

Edit: I've looked it up and it's already at 32 channels, should I raise it higher?

No idea. All that's happening is a small script running that controls what Twinkle says and when. It also disables/enables player controls. But there is nothing special about it. Can you hear Twinkle talk before you sit down (you should)? Maybe the wav files for her voice are corrupted inside the bsa archive somehow?

Yep I can hear twinkle talk, the time it CTD varies from either just before she asks me to sit down or just after and she begins to speak again. I've been currently been disabling sound mods (and rebuilding the bashed patch making sure no scripts are being imported) one by one to see if there is any chance of conflict there. So far I have ruled out Musical Immersion and both the More Immersive Sound (MIS) esps as the cause of the CTD. I'm currently testing Atmospheric Oblivion...

Eureka! I've found it! Having eliminated all the sound mods from my investigation I then had to wonder what else it could be. I then remembered that Shining Creatures changed the appearance of wisps and since Twinkle is one it was worth a try. After deactivating it and rebuilding the bashed patch, I loaded my game and proceeded with the ritual. When I got to Twinkle's shack, the first thing I noticed was that Twinkle was now white instead of light blue, after Twinkle asked me to sit down I got control back immediately (before there would be a delay and often it would crash at this point). After sitting down Twinkle was able to finish her conversation and the quest updated with no crashes. Now I can do the quest! Hurrah! I can reactivate Shining Creatures once I've completed it.

Perhaps it would be a good idea to inform Arkgnt and The Filthy Spaniard of this conflict and see if anyone else can confirm it.
