what do you mean?
I guess it would all depend on the guild. I am sure most guilds probably wouldn't mind. Many players like to try out different factions, that's not going to be a unique situation that pops up. I don't really see the issue. Poeple like change from time to time.
If you have an issue with a Dunmer guild accepting a player who moonlights as a Bosmer (how would they even know if you go offline to them when you do your moonlighting?) find a guild that feels the same way as you do that won't tolerate such vile treachery to their most sacred and exclusive faction.
I played WoW long enough (too many years) to make friends on both sides of the factions that game has, I don't see why the same doesn't apply here.
The only thing that could get awkward is an offline option but then someone in that guild sees you're on anyways because they're in another guild with you or see you in the world.
And if you show as offline does that turn off chat as well? I'd hope not, personally.
I AM SPYING ON MY PEOPLE.
I expect many established guilds will be forbidding multi-guilding other than sub-guilds made up of members of the main guild. And likely single faction alliance as well - with the ability to be any race in any faction alliance and able to do other factions alliance area quest lines post level 50, I've heard at least, no one is missing out on content.
Organized guilds are not going to want random folks parking their crafting alts to utilize guild resources and leveling their mains with PvE content with the guild then switching to earn realm points for another guild.
This would be unreasonable, considering there is no auction house option in the game. If you want to reach as many buyers as possible you're going to be forced to join the max number of guilds so you can research prices and spread your wares around. In fact, many people have already stated they will be making merchant guilds simply to shop, not to do actual guild activities together. Any guild leader who says you can't join other guilds simply to shop is not someone I would want as a leader anyway. It's just irrational.
This sounds like a an unnecessary feature that gamers complained & complained about to get.
It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me either.....
One character, one guild, otherwise there will be a tradition of free-loading.
If I have a guild, I like to think I can trust the people I recruit. I don't like the idea that it is so easy to have access to so many resources, yet a players resources are split between 5 guilds......if they even contribute.
This just seems like its feeding a sense of entitlement. They have a right to gain your resources, effort & time invested, while also taking advantage of 4 other guilds.
Players should make a choice & play where it suits them best......not be a burden on other guilds.
Even though you can restrict access etc, it would feel like you are being used & trust would be hard to come by.
I just hope I have gotten this element confused tbh.....otherwise, guilds will be a miss for me.
This I believe, in a nutshell, is why they promote and allow joining 5 guilds.
My theory is that they wanted to try something new to combat gold sellers and bots. They theorize that smaller controlled markets (guild stores) could be the ticket. Then, in order to avoid restricting players to such a small market, they decided to allow us to join up to 5 of these small markets.
Just my theory.
^^^ That makes sense I guess.....but still something hard to accept in terms of guild resources.
I would think it almost certain that a lot of "convenience guilds" will be formed simply for the sole purpose of marketing. The guilds don't HAVE to be active in any other way.
No, I completely agree. Even with a few hundred community managers working 24/7 it would still be next to impossible to monitor all the buying/selling/trading traffic on a massive server with a few million players.. With guilds capped at 500, they know the guild leaders will be able to track their guild stores pretty closely and report any bot-like behavior as soon as they come across it.
It also means that guild leaders can prevent members from price fixing because they can kick anyone who is misbehaving with pricing, something that is poor gaming form but not something a community manager could step in and punish.
This may have been mentioned already, but keep in mind that many people (myself included) will have one guild they call home, and up to 4 merchant guilds. The merchant guilds will be created with no obligations or strings attached. They will simply be a large collection of people that want to sell and buy from each other.
I couldn't agree more. Will it work? Time will tell. I hope so. I am cautiously optimistic.
As a leader of a guild and a pro-guild/group player, the current system to me seems as though its going to destroy the loyalty and any pride you might have in the guild you belong to. Only example Im able to produce is that I belong to 1 volunteer firehouse, not 2, or 3 or even 5! I belong to one and a proud member, whose dedicated and hardworking. I hope to see the same out of my fellow guildies. I guess I may ask/trust that my fellow guildies not join any other guilds with the same character.
Hoping for the best here(My guild has ice cream)
That's right. You would be able to also be proud about the products your guild could sell. Everyone being in multiple guilds will make them more into generic markets. Another great thing sacrificed for convenience.
yea thats a good point, your guild products wont be as unique anymore either...
The concept of having to join multiple merchant guilds just to replace an auction house is a bad move, as it won't reach as many people as an AH would have. And it will cause multi millions of sell spam on chat channels just to reach the same amount of people. sigh I know its a moot point but this is a really bad idea.
this game has imo the worse guild system i will have been a part of
Yes, an setting with one guild and you will get large ones. I see three types of guilds, large PvP guilds, smaller social and PvE guilds, special guilds as leveling or trade guilds.
If you go to forums like the ones at Tamriel Foundry, you'll see that people are designing Merchant-specific guilds. The entire purpose of the guild is to create a marketplace. They don't want to quest with you, they don't want to pvp with you, they are solely there to be merchants. They are not attempting to detract from the type of guild experience you want to build.
This couldn't be more wrong. Being able to join multiple guilds is one of the best things to happen in MMOs. Allows you to be in small guilds with community without feeling like you're missing out on all the amazing events that large guilds provide. In GW2 I'm in a large PvX guild, and a large world PvE guild, and absolutely love it because I get the best of both worlds.
I agree with your logic but still think it is a BS move on ZoS part
and contribute to the welfare of which over the other? Or do you equally split your time between the 2? guilds are a 2 way street. GMs work damn hard to make successful guilds. To have members not pulling their weight is a burden to others. I want to play the game not have to pull up my meeting maker from work to see which guild may have an event that night and hope there is no conflict in schedules
