Multi-Shot Bow Ability

Post » Mon Sep 06, 2010 5:58 am

I was just wondering how would one effectively fight multiple foes with a bow and arrow in Skyrim. Something I came up with would be once you level your ranged weapon skill high enough or have a perk for it where you could draw back multiple arrows (possibly by pressing x (ready weapon) while drawing the bow back).

And how does that help you fight multiple enemies? The arrows are going to follow very similar trajectories.

They'd all fly in the same direction, just less accurace.

I'd rather have logical perks instead of hollywood-stuff like this.

perhaps while we're at it we can have a spear that when you jab with it will split in three so you can fight three things at once :o

Jump up high; death from above!!!!

Um, bows aren't really meant for multiple melee foes, and using it in close quarters is pretty silly.

BUT

This would be a great chance for some creative work regarding magic weapons...Life Seeking arows! Ok ok, at least it's better than the same ol' fire, ice, drain, blah blah blah

It would make the arrows hurt the one target you aimed at more lol. But bows are already getting a huge damage increase, so you will either be able to kill a lot of things with 1-3 hits (especially if from stealth), or you had better be ready to retreat a shot distance or draw a melee weapon.

Edit: I always wanted to make a mod where if you held the bow for a long time more arrows would appear at slightly different trajectories so you could blanket an entire area with Arrows. However, I couldn't figure out a way to script it.

You don't want hollywood stuff in the game where you shoot fire out of your hands? I was more thinking arranging the arrows so it would make them fly in more of a spread pattern. Would it work in real life? Hell no. Would it work in a video game? A few games already do it, so why not?

That's right, I do not want hollywood stuff in the game where I shoot fire out of my hands.

Magic is explained by lore. I can live with it being a different world.

Regular pyhsics, regarding weapons for example, don't seem to differ from the real world though. I don't want anything to be possible that would not either be possible in real life or explained by ingame-logic, such as magic or the power of a god or whatever else differences from the real world we have. I don't want stuff that is just in because it's 'cool' or whatever. A well designed world sticks to its own rules.

By the title alone I was automatically picturing Legolas sliding down the stairs shooting many orcs.....just no....no...*thinks again* no.... Leave it as it is and like many people already have stated leave hollywood out of this game and keep it original and true :D

I can't see how it would help you fight multiple enemies but I could see it being a useful perk.

like carrying 500 lbs of gear on you and still being able to jump 5 feet in the air, sprint, swim, and ride a horse.

I know it's a comic book picture, but this is pretty much what i was thinking.

There are things that are necessary breaks with reality to suit gameplay, and there are silly, dispensable features. I'm sorry that your idea falls on the wrong side of the line for most people.

Yeah, that's a good example. They should drastically reduce the amount of stuff you can carry and limit what you can do while you carry it. Get as close to believable as possible, while retaining unique features such as magic. Works perfectly fine in pen and paper games where I always have to be able to name the exact location of every piece of equipment I carry.

Um...a TRIDENT obviously!!! But yeah, trick shots like that may only really work in games like Dragon Age and whatnot. Two Worlds II did something interesting, which was give the player a 1st person view (or sniping view) and let you tag the area or enemy you want to multi shot. The more you lvl up the ability the more arrows you can shoot at once. But again, I dont think this would be implemented, because skyrim is supposed to make arrows less common-make you really decide if you want to use up a precious arrow.

A life seeking arrow would be far more useful at long range as it would have limited ability to correct its path, would behave far more like a smart artillery shell than a air to air missile who follows the target.

I like this idea. It is perfectly doable. +1
Maybe this perk could be unlocked when you've spent 15 points in the marksman perk tree.

Change to your short sword. Simple.

Bow and arrow is a strategic weapon. You have to calculate before attacking, so that you can took the most advantage of it.
