OFC it would be awesome... and IMO there is no better advertisemant/marketing then a solid beta/demo, so II think it's in heir best interest as well

Welcome to the forum. There have been a number of topics about this and the only answer is that we don't know, http://www.vg247.com/2010/05/07/splash-damage-still-talking-about-possible-brink-co-op-demo/

Many people would like to see a beta. Most of them because they want to play the game early, however, a beta is meant to test the game in everyway. Smooth movement, bugs, balancing issues, ...
As the mod said: They are not sure yet if there will be a beta. At this moment Splash Damage is having an internal beta with "friends and family"

Yes, you're right on both points. I was pointing it out in general, because most people don't realise it.

Beta's also act as great promo.

so long as it's GOOD.

A great beta will have players gnashing at the teeth for release.

If it flops (*cough*MoH*cough*) it can kill ur game too lol

If your concern is that it has to be "GOOD" i.e better representation of the final product, then you would probably want a demo instead of a beta.

I want there to be a beta even if im not in it. with the new SMART system, theres alot of places in the map to be discovery and it seems like there could potentially be some MW2 level of BS glitches that could be hiding, that the developers might not have seen because when playing their own game, they dont try to be jerks. Also i wouldnt like the FANS to give imput on weapons/abilities balances if there happen to be any discrepancies. Also with that thread about the hipfire i would like people to make sure all of that is sorted out. Would i like to be a part of a beta? HELL YES! but would i be happy if there was one but i wasnt in it? YES. for me its not about playing it early, its about making sure BRINK will be as fun as it possibly can in the end :)

I know that the primary purpose of a BETA is feedback, and that DEMOs are used for promo....

but beta's ALSO act as promo just like a DEMO.

As for quality.... beta players expect bugs/hiccups & imbalances.

But by Open beta, you SHOULD have GFX, SFX, and 90% of the system working pretty smoothly. not perfect, but it should still be a good representation of your product.

Was that all? That sounds like its easily fixable
the game itself

its not like it froze every now and then, it froze EVERY GAME. and you had to turn your PS3 (i have a PS3 i cant speak for other systems) off to be able to do anything. And in a shooter it becomes really old really fast when you cant "shoot" anything

scuse me.

What do you want me to say about the game? I didn't find any redeemable qualities about it... except that maybe it's a Grade 'A' generic clone of CoD w/ a sprinkling of BFBC.

The gunplay is 3rd rate, the gfx and sfx were sub par, and the taliban was, IMO, downright insulting... but then, America is filled with Islamophobia right now, so they can easily get away with that kinda garbage.

It is a literal piece of [censored], and I refuse to accept it, or even to sit quietly by while people discuss it cause the game is that much of a pile of crap.

better?

A tad. I was looking for technical aspects that make the game as bad as you say. This helps. The rest, eh, not so much, politics are a no-no on here or I would comment but ya, a bit better

politics are almost a 'no-no' on boards for some reason... guess people take it personal.

for technical stuff, I'd say it just felt... cheap? old?

I dunno, it felt like they were trying to hard to copy COD instead of making their own game...

I don't like COD in the first place, by MOH felt like the bastard child.

I thought it was built on frostbite (BFBC2's engine) but it didn't feel like it (it is though)

All I did was see one video of the MoH beta, and it looked like if Infinity Ward got a hold of BC2, made some modifications and released it as a new title.
