No multiplayer in Brink!?

No multiplayer in Brink!? I just read that Brink will only contain multiplayer campaign in a way of multiplayer versus, can someone confirm/disprove this? To be honest I'll be disappointed if there is no classic deathmatch/ team deathmatch!

Brink is about teamwork, and teamplay, I would prefer a work-together-to-complete-objectives style multiplayer over a deathmatch any day of the week.

You will always have an objective as far as I know, but I could be wrong.
Edit: Too slow, the post above is better D:

There's no deathmatch of any sort. That's the beauty of Brink! We don't want just another cookie cutter FPS that we have to pay $60 for. If you want team deathmatch, go play COD. But yes, there is multiplayer. Strictly OBJECTIVE multiplayer.

There is Multiplayer! This game is more team based Objective everyone working together not run an gun like other shooters. Brink is Objective/Team Death Match/other modes in one game!

One of the main charms of Brink to me is that it is objective multiplayer, not just "kill everyone" like in CoD, i'm tired of playing that

Exactly, Brink is not another mindless shooter, multiplayer does not mean there has to be deathmatch! Brink is something new, it is the future of fps games!

You sound like team deathmatch is somehow inherently inferior to objective based modes, and is only played by idiots who want to shoot stuff and blow things up.

This is ridiculous. Deathmatch isn't mindless, those horrible games you associate it with are.

This IS this Brink forums, is it not, nearly everyone loves objective based and hates, dislikes or just ignores deathmatch and such.

No deathmatch, its like Left 4 Dead where you go through parts of the campaign. Stopwatch is like versus mode, you get to play both sides except you have to get a better time completing the objectives then the other team. The only gametypes I know are Objective and Stopwatch. But, theres also challenge modes that you can co-op with friends.

Doesn't matter what forum this is, thinking that what you prefer is somehow superior to other modes is extremely foolish. I don't care if you don't like it, or even ignore it, but hating it is extremely childish.

Alright. I REALLY poorly worded that. I don't like deathmatch, I don't want another COD clone and I'm not an anti teamwork player who's out for the K/D. I have always preferred games like TF2 or Battlefield for that reason alone! I love playing objective! It's just I don't think every match being a CAMPAIGN mission will work that well. I expected a separate mode for online objective based games. So if it's like Left for Dead's versus I really am disappointed, it just gets too repetitive.

It's not inferior, just overdone and becoming stale.

i don't beleive Objective is superior to DM/TDM. however, in games like CoD the objective modes are horrible, so DM/TDM is the only thing worth playing, which pisses me off. In Brink, there is no DM/TDM, and Objectives make sense, which i like. I wouldn't trade this for anything, and DM/TDM does not fit Brink at all. So haters stop hating, and either go back to your CoD or get with the program.

Makes no difference to me...all I played in CoD was domination. I'd much rather play and objective based game then team deathmatch. Running around like mad men with guns, not knowing whats around the corner.

Objective based multiplayers are amazing. W:ET was perfectly fine the way it was and I honestly don't see the point of DM/TDM. Sure, it's fun for a while, but it gets really repetitive as you're just trying to find the best spot on the map for easy kills whereas having objectives in multiplayer mode allows you to work in teams and to create strategies that include more than just killing this guy or killing that guy.

every map has the same mission, yes, but there ar already 2 What-If Missions, and hopefully we will get more, plus SMART allows for each mission to play completely differently depending on who exactly you are up against. An army of Heavies coming down on you like a tank battalion? divide and conquer! Lights avoiding all your bullets? set up traps! just because your playing the same mission doesn't mean it is going to play out the sam

That' completely dependant on the general game mechanics, games are becoming overdone and stale, not modes.

I would trade it for both, while deathmatch indeed doesn't fit with brink, team deathmatch does. I'm not disappointed in it's lack of inclusion, but I would have liked to see it, and it would make sense. And those CoD comments should stop, TDM has been around for much, much longer.

Fixed it for ya :).

Some of u guys make it sound like tdm are all solo crusaders while objective its 1 organized unit who works together. I got a newsflash for ya unless your team is on teamspeak/vent it will be 1 unorganized bunch of players running straight for the objective or defending it.

Theres campaign mode, and free play mode. Free Play lets you set custom settings. It was mentioned in the first Get SMART series video. Guess no one watched those.
