Multiplayer Map Release: Hotel Rooftop

Post » Mon Jul 04, 2011 9:35 am

Hi everyone!

I've just finished making a custom multiplayer map for Crysis 2 and I would like to share it with all of you. Particularly, I'm hoping to attract the attention of server admins who could run it. As that is the most important success determining factor for a custom multiplayer map. So, if you run a server and would like to put this map on your server, please do post your server information.

Here are some screenshots:

Just downloaded it, will add it to my rotation as soon as my hoster will allow it. Looks like solid work, keep it up.

I've problems to start the map because i am not sure where to put the files/folders...

Extract the contents of the package to your root/gamecrysis2 folder. DO NOT extract it to the Levels folder, as it requires additional textures and scripts to run properly. This will NOT overwrite any existing items.

I would would extract the contents of your archive into my gamecrysis2 folder i would overwrite my levels folder(?). And I havent got a textures and a scripts folder...how can i do it the right way? getting errors atm when i try to start it with map cw2_hotelrooftop.

The whole process is necessary for the very reason you just brought up. Most people don't have a separate Scripts and Textures folder, which are necessary for the map's preview image, support bonuses and the minimap.

And again, this WILL NOT overwrite any files or folders you already have.

Can't get it working...sry call me stupid. I have already a levels folder, if i would copy the contents of your archive into my gamecrysis2 folder i WOULD overwrite my whole levels folder!

I put cw2_hotelrooftop in D:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\gamecrysis2\Levels\Wars

Scripts in D:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\gamecrysis2\

Textures in D:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis 2\gamecrysis2\

If that's what you did, then it should be working fine.

Nice dude, I'm impressed.

If only crysis had an auto-downloader I would instantly put this on!

I extracted the needed layers from the SP map and created a new map and then just imported the layers I extracted from the SP map.

Why not? What does it say?

To give you a basic rundown, though:

Extract the "Scripts" and "Textures" folder to gamecrysis2 and the cw2_hotelrooftop (found in Levels/Wars/ folder of the .zip package) to gamecrysis2/Levels/Wars

That's it. Maybe you tried to extract it to the root folder of the game, not gamecrysis2?

I type in "map cw2_hotelrooftop" , then the console shoes me ====loading map cw2_hotelrooftop==== (or sth like that) and than nothing happens, no further console outputs. Very strange... Thx for ypur patience Dj-iceman.

No, no you don't. Hmm. Are you sure you're in the SP mode when you type in map cw2_hotelrooftop? If you try it in the MP mode, it won't do anything.
