Multiplayer maps you can't stand?

Post » Thu Nov 11, 2010 8:58 pm

I don't mind playing the majority of the maps in the game, but there are a couple that I always go "ugh, vote ___ (the other map)" to my squad when they come up.

Terminal - This feels like a Gears of War map, but with no real place to take cover. You can try hiding in some of the stores, but almost all the action takes place at the high corners of the map, leading to quick skirmishes of bad/good luck. I've found no real strategy, or at least any to my playstyle on this map.

Statue - There's no secret that this level is very similar to evac zone, but it feels like a far messier and less thought-out version of it to me. Evac Zone has a lot of key areas to hide/watch, and more strategic/safer building to utilize, while on statue I always feel like I'm in danger no matter where I go.

and to a lesser extent:

Lighthouse - Sometimes this one can be fun on TiA, but other times it just turns into a shoot one dude, get shot in the back match. I think it's absolutely horrible for crash site, as it lands at the complete opposite end of the map, and by the time you get there, it's already captured/about to explode. frustrating.

What maps do you guys not like (as much)?

Lighthouse is just awful. Same old same old every single game. People camping in the Lighthouse/Hospital with Retriever, Visor Enhance and a DSG-1 with a silencer spamming shots at anything that moves.

Oh and Liberty Island = Statue and Evac Zone combined. They feel similar because they are similar, they are set right next to each other.

Offtopic but my favourite map is easily Wall Street, its one of the best maps this game has in my opinion.

I voted City Hall, nothing against the layout as such, but to me it just seems really ugly in comparison to the rest of the maps.

I'm surprised that's actually your least favorite.

My favorite is definitely Skyline. Maybe it's because I played the demo too much, but I also tend to do very well on it. Went 23-0 last night, was pretty badass.

Voted for terminal. The spawns on that map are horrendous. Spawn in a corner, take 2 steps, and then get killed from behind because someone else spawned there. Though the spawn system in general is pretty **** up, that happens a lot on Impact, too.

There's 2 maps I can't/couldn't stand and that was Lighthouse and Downed Bird, but I have been playing and voting for Lighthouse to train myself and it's starting to grow on me, if I see a sniper I either mark him and tell the team or just go kill him right away, with JAW or by just running there as he will probably never give up to camp :P

The second map was Downed Bird which is just plain awful, I feel you never utilize 80% of the map, everyone always end up on the roof or in that corner, and there's always atleast 1 camper by the broken ship!

Lighthouse as Crash Site. Can't stand Crash Site games where you're killed in a loop by over half the other team being hungry fragging hippo's. Can't stand it even more cuz most of the time you spawn the opposite side or the longest as possible from objective. Can't stand losing in Crash Site with a frag ratio with no objective participation, due to being forced to kill these frag-happy groupies.

Map control with respawn killing, granted... But it becomes absurd when you realize there's only 2 guys, maybe 3 at most on the objective while the rest just keeps intercepting and swarming the others. Completely off-topic now but I really think they should make the respawning slower and make it so that when you do, any other fallen mates reappear with you so you can attempt to go back to the objective in a GROUP to have a chance.

Anyway... Any of the biggest maps used with crash site are really obnoxious.

Terminal is horrible. It suits a certain type of player and that player aint me.

All the others are absolutely great on Crash Site (my main game mode), even lighthouse which, after adapting my playstyle, even accomodates my Run n Gun play.

Lighthouse because of everything everybody else mentioned: crash site, campers, far objectives.

And because it just looks ugly, even with 'extreme' setting the grass just looks horrible. The black ground texture is just bad.

Pier 17... paradise for campers or/and snipers. Every step I take, I get killed by some noob.
Besides that one, there are few horrible maps, like City Hall, Lighthouse, Terminal...

You shouldn't be getting killed by noobs on pier 17 unless you are one. That map has so much cover I can count the amount of times I've been sniped on one hand. Plus, you nearly always know where the sniper is (the boat house or the boat) They rarely go anywhere else because they are usually shot before they can acquire a target.

If you use the cover available, you can usually destroy the noobs sunning about in the open.

Pier 17, Light house is one of my favorite, you just need to L2P, all weapons work there from C4,L-Tag,Sniper, EVERYTHING, wich is rare! most maps u need mainstream Feline,Scarab or Scar lol.. borefeast... :),

Interesting what people say about City Hall. That's my personal favorite. I'm more of a close quarters fighter, so I like maps that are both tight but have enough open endedness to it to make it interesting. I tend to get a maximum nanosuit on that level most times I play it.
