[STEAM] Multiplayer Out of the Box

(Talking about Classic Doom on Steam)

Any chance for an update that adopts one of the multiplayer source-ports available? The DOSBox'd one on Steam is starting to show issues with Windows 8 users and doesn't have multiplayer support "out of the box". That scatters the player base a lot (mostly because an easy "Play online!" button is missing), and I would like to see fresh blood in deathmatch.

There are two, fully GPL compatible (unless noted otherwise) source-ports that adds multiplayer support: Doomsday (laggy but neat graphics) and Odamex (smooth online experience but graphics are meh). There is also chocolate-doom but graphics are as ugly as in the dosbox version and playing online with it is laggy.

There are other two source-ports there but they have code bits that doesnt allow commercial distribution, and these pieces aren't that easy to find and fix.

Thoughts?
