Multiplayer Recruiting for BRINK

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 7:52 am

Xbox 360 has the betterer controller, therefore Xbox 360 is the superior system

These sorts of statements regardless of what you may believe to be true, are what console/platform warns are made of and therefore not welcome on this forum.

Of course!

Maybe... just maybe... console and PC gamers could even be... friends! ^_^

That is our goal. We are all fans of the game. What platform or console we play on makes little difference in the big picture except that the offering of a game on multiple platforms multiplies it's overall success and number of sells.

Here on this forum, it's all about the game and not what you platform preference is.

but i do agree, its up to to the community for BRINK for the game to be successful. I have come from Kz3, where the community is dying already after 2 months of the game being out.

The game brings the community. If the game is not great, there wont be a community.

I coulda told u Kz3 was a get boring over night game. (I dont mean to be mean. Sorry KZ3 Devs, It had potential, but just wasnt on point and I wonder if there is a dev on that team who is thinking to himself "I knew we should have done this (and/or that) differently)

perhaps the final solution to making a game like BRINK successful as an active community would be to make it multiplatform ie (PS3,XBOX360 and PC servers are all intertwined. . .) which apparently is not easy to do because it the reason for the major delay with Final Fantasy 14 online~

No, no, no. Develop them in parallel, but separately.

Can you imagine having players on the same server playing on Playstations, Xboxes, and computers? The game balance issues that would be needed to either give aim-assists to consoles or the opposite to PCs, as well as features, graphics, and connection-related things would be far too difficult to get right (if possible), and they would always be limiting, ergo ultimately not worth it.

Please don't turn this thread into a console war plz!

On topic: SD really need to avoid Treyarchs mistakes of working 3/4 of their efforts on 360 and then porting that result to the PC and PS3

Hence the success of X-BOX360, even though PS3 is far superior

LOL

On topic tho i do feel it is important for this game to get some more light on it. Honestly it feels under the radar, i havent seen a gamer magazine or website cover this game in depth since E3 it feels like. In my group of friends however are spreading word thru our town, most people who actually check it out get really excited for it. I hope in the next month a major Game critic covers Brink and gives it the attention it deserves, i really hope for a good population on this game.

In the U.S., consoles outsell PCs by far. Far, far, far.
In Europe, not so much. But as games are mainly developed to consoles now, there is a similar trend.

I'm not sure how this is in Asia, but Japanese and Chinese people probably play on Playstation the most.

Yes I think that console versions will outsell pc versions in the US also. I think that most gamers here are on a budget and PCs can be extremely pricey to play "the next new game" at its optimum speed and get the most aesthetic value from the game. That's why I personally turned to consoles for gaming - the graphics might not be as flashy but the games usually perform just as well and I just couldn't keep up with updating my pc's hardware. I guess it all boils down to what each individual prefers - controllers or mouse and keyboard.

A lot of PC players, especially competitive ones (by competitive I mean play in tournaments and leagues) actually don't have great PCs, are on a budget, and use configs and suchlike to maximise FPS at the cost of the graphics quality.

Me along with Mike (we're in the same clan) have come from KZ3. To me a PROPER clan system is important for this game to succeed
either having an ingame clan challenge system like KZ and SOCOM or having a skill based Matchmaking system like the "rank" playlist from Uncharted 2

this will ensure either clans can go against each other for a match and play the game in a competitive arena or have ppl matched up based on their skill lvl so games aren never blowouts

over the years of gaming for me its usually the games with a strong clan system that keeps the hardcoe interested and keeps games alive
cod is an example of this, i honestly dont think the casuals can keep playing that game for more than a year hence they keep brining out new 1s every year as that game has no clan system, just a tag.

PS3 games like killzone and socom have an in-game clan system where u can challenge other clans to a match to improve ur rating or clan ranking etc
its not just a random match

in kz2 u could have setup tournaments from ingame and a time when it starts and teams would get a notice 15mins before the game starts that the clan lobby is up for the match, u win u advance to the next round and u usually have like a 30mins-1 hour break before the next match, SOCOM 4's in game clan system is that u enter the clan challenge section and officers or the leader can make a clan lobby, once made u will see a list of clans on the right hand side of the screen who are also in a clan lobby in 1 of 3 statuses
1. not ready
2. ready
3. in a challenge

once u have everyone u want in ur lobby u ready up and can either challenge another clan that is ready or have them challenge u to a match in a best of 3 series

now i dont think BRINK will have something as elaborate as this but what im hoping to at least get is a way to challenge other clans or get matched up against ppl of similiar skill lvl

Private matches are an option but that puts alot of hassle on the users who wanna play competitive games to go out and look for opposing clans, ask them for a challenge, hope they accept and then set it up via private match whereas with the systems i described above its more streamlined and alot less stressful to get competitive games goin

1. Many gamers only want to play the game if their network of friends is going to play it. (Hence the success of X-BOX360, even though PS3 is far superior)

Just saying, I stopped reading there, not the best way to start a post if you're trying to be civil.

It's not so much of a hassle if proper leagues are set up and matches scheduled in advance, like e-sports teams or players do in every other competitive game. (CS, TF2, SC2, CoD4, etc...)

Having said that, whilst (for example for TF2) there are websites such as tf2lobby.com with advanced coding that will allow matches to be set up then your game will boot and join the passworded server automatically, an actual in-game system would be fantastic.

Well mexican I did not think I was being uncivil. . .my apologies for your perspective. I feel that its pretty obvious as a matter of fact rather than opinion that PS3>XBOX360. Blu-Ray>HD DVD, wireless networking, console franchises, and simply that from PS1 to PS3, the longer the system is out, the better the games get and so on and so fourth. . .But like Summer stated my intention in this thread was to discuss BRINK and not what console you are playing it on. I'll apply some omission from this point on. . .

Yeah Summer already commented on it.
I have a big problem with that being said as well, but it has been covered.

The main reason the game isn't cross-platform (pvp) is because overall, Keyboard & Mouse is more accurate.
With that being said, I won't say it is the best, because I started playing games on the N64.

I personally think different consoles showcase different skill-sets moreso than others.
PC users might find that KB&M relies more on Hand-eye-coordination when compared,
and sometimes this leads to the belief that somehow this makes PCs better than consoles.

well my experience with gamebattles for example is that on the PS3 side games tend not to be active for very long unless its named cod or socom which is why i personally would prefer an in-game system

i know PC gamers would have their sites and stuff up and it wud be active once the game lives up to the hype but console side idk and thats what worries me cuz i want this game to be successful

Hello,

I have been watching vids on Brink for a few months, and have kept an eye on development for a couple years now. Just pre-ordered my copy for xbox today. I will be getting the Doom bonus pack! So, this is my first post on this forum. I hope that this is a game that really has a close knit and devote following. With cool people.

Greetings Wolf. I have been following development for a long time as well and finally joined the forums yesterday to get a bunch of smart comments because I had missed the announcement of the new release date. Everything is looking good so far and it appears that a lot of us are placing our faith in BRINK and what it is bringing to the table~ "a fresh experience that flips the switch on what we are all getting bored of playing. . .FPS!"

Such great welcoming crew we have here. Who would blame newcomers from ever wanting to play with a folks that are so very, very elitist.

This thread is way off topic and onto platform/console stuff still despite my asking not to go there because it's off topic. I swear I've got to start warning you old time dudes for being rude pretty soon. :shocking:
