Multiplayer Recruiting for BRINK

Post » Sun Feb 13, 2011 5:29 am

Greetings to any and all! I want to highlight a critical aspect of getting BRINK on the platinum level of the FPS genre. While I am sure we all enjoy the Call of Duty and Battlefield franchises, there is a large group of gamers just like me who have been waiting forever for an aesthetic perspective with the freedom to customize and create, complex game play FPS game like BRINK. When I watch the videos and listen to the developers talk, its like they opened my brain and decided to make the game I have always wanted. . .

With that being said, I have been trying to recruit friends into getting BRINK. The problem seems to be two things:

1. Many gamers only want to play the game if their network of friends is going to play it. (Hence the success of X-BOX360, even though PS3 is far superior)

2. With so many new and innovative games coming out, gamers look to be strategic with their purchases.

With these two points in mind, there leaves only one solution as I see it to make BRINK a robust and active community that it deserves to be. We the gamers have to recruit as hard as we can until May 17th. I have personal pre-ordered with Best Buy for the Fallout add ons. Anyways, I just wanted to try and light the fire so that maybe with a little manpower we can get the servers packed and establish BRINK as a legitimate franchise.

Thanks for reading!

not trying to be mean, but if you want your team to thrive, at least get the most basic facts about the game correct...oh like lets say the right release date, which is May 10th like the guy above me said.

no one wants to join a team that knows nothing about the game.

but i do agree, its up to to the community for BRINK for the game to be successful. I have come from Kz3, where the community is dying already after 2 months of the game being out. I want to help make sure that BRINK doesn't follow down the same path, but by the looks of everything, I don't see that being an issue anytime soon.

btw, its really not hard to recruit via forums. in almost every game i've played, people post on the forums, rather it be if they are looking for a clan, or clan's make threads with their requirements & website and just bump it up to the top of the list every couple of hours, or everyday.

i also think its a bad idea to recruit prior to the game even launch. first off your just picking randoms up of the forums, second you don't know if they are even good, and third you don't even know how active it will be.

i think you should reconsider the way your recruit and realize in the end its how you approach recruitment.

BRAVO,

typically I read the playstation magazine for all of my gaming info. They stated a May 17th release date. I just got on the forums today and noticed the updated release date after my post. My apologies. . .
Also, I am pretty sure that this post falls under the umbrella of "general discussion". Sorry to hear that KZ3 is dying, I just wasnt satisfied with the MP experience from KZ2 so I did not buy it. . .

Id rather have it that its not really to mainstream so not to many noobs come on but it is still recognized and praised to the platinum level. this might be tricky to understand. I dont want noobs but i want game reveiwers and High up gamers to see brink and let everybody who makes a diffrence in the gaming world (Gamers Underground) to know aobut it. their fore making ti platinum without having to worry about noobs.

I understand what you mean but I have always been concerned with the amount of immature gamers rather than noobs. Technically we will all be noobs on may 10th. Taking some noobs under your wing and showing them the way can sometimes be a good thing to do.

What we need to hope for is that this game sells well enough to ensure SD sells enough to ensure the next game is even better. In order to do that, we need some new folks and we need to help them learn and understand as much as we can as quickly as they can. The more the better. Yes, it's a bit of a challenge none of us want to take on but it's so worth assisting this game to not only get good reviews but to make it as profitable as we can. This would mean more money and more time for adding to Brink and to make a great "next one".

Well said Summer. I just got off the phone with my local gamestop and his speech when he answered the phone was, "Come on in to gamestop to preorder LA Noire." I asked about a midnight release and he said that the pre-order count had to reach a certain level before they would authorize a midnight release. Wal mart does midnight release for every game so I guess it is all relative to what free dlc you want.

First let me say im honored that you responded to me. and second that i see exactly what your saying. I never factored in Brink 2 i just really dont want to lose out on teh Brink experience with having to constantly worry about noobish players ruining the game. if their were decent new players who are willing to change for the better of the game then id happily help them but if some random player comes in and messes up the gaming experience for everyone then its lost.

BRAVO. . .Perhaps you might have misunderstood what my perspective was in conjunction with my original post. I am not talking about multiplayer recruiting for the sake of clans, I am talking about multiplayer recruiting just for the sake of playing it online. Yes I would like to play with my friends but more than that I would like to play in active servers and see a vast amount of players in-game at all hours of the day. For example, get on Modern Warfare 2 at 2 AM and try to find a decent HC SD match. . .Then try it on Black Ops! See the difference? The more the merrier, which is what Summer was saying and which was the epicenter of what I was talking about.

Just curious Summer. . .Do you think PC sales are more significant than console sales? Is there a difference? I know that typically PC new releases are cheaper than console games but I was curious about what Bethesda and Splash Damage would like to seem in terms of sales and whatnot. . .

Well I've been advertising to fans of Assassin's Creed (another action-oriented game with Parkour included), and it's been getting some interest.

Hoping it picks enough of them up for us to go somewhere.

I'm just guessing but based on what I have heard here and there, being here everyday I am of the belief that consoles far out sell pc. And I'm currently a pc player so no prejudice here. I am going to do a search for something Pete Hines said recently as a tweet which is about another game but indicated a much larger sells of console games than pc. If I find it, I'll post it.

You can have noobish guns skills, but be great at objective team base games. I think we'll all be playing like noobs for a while until we get use to the gameplay. I have decent gun skills, but pretty good at objective base gameplay. I'm only as good as my team mates and this game emphasize's this as its standard play. I've doing my part in telling people about this game. I want it to be a big success and in such a way that it'll make other devs make games that are strongly about team play. Games that if your playing just for KDs and lone wolfing it, you'll find your self at the bottom of the list after the match, wondering why your the noob with a 2.00 KD.

A lot of TF2 players, including competitive ones like myself, are interested with Brink, and considering its potential as a successor for them (not the games themselves, just as something for them to pack up and move on to after three and a half years of TF2).

Hopefully Brink will continue to be updated and improved for free, à la Valve, and as such can continue to be a huge part of the gaming community for years to come.

By the way, I don't think we should start talking about 'a next game' when Brink isn't even out yet. It's just absurd.

I understand why people are like "f**k the noobs and immature players" but on the other hand, do you want Brink to turn out like Blur? There's a balance on the line here.

Tell ya what it is so good to everyone on the same page  . I myself spend some of my day and night playing on CoD :yucky: and other games with multiplayer telling people about BRINK and how it is so different to other games. And they listen to me  and i always make a note to tell them to check the game out for themselves. And 9/10 time they come back asking question after question about it "How dose this work", "when does it come out" you know all the question we first started asking. and it makes me happy to be showing people the light. Of cause i'm not going to convert everyone on Xbox live but a few hundred is good enough Like they say nothing travels faster than word of mouth.

In the U.S., consoles outsell PCs by far. Far, far, far.
In Europe, not so much. But as games are mainly developed to consoles now, there is a similar trend.

I'm not sure how this is in Asia, but Japanese and Chinese people probably play on Playstation the most.

As a matter of fact, the PS3 controller is the better piece of hardware.

Doesn't mean you have to like it - I don't like the shape either.

I don't like controllers! At all! :celebration:

Edit: To make some point, then: it's fine by me if games sell more on consoles than on PC, as long as the game is developed for PC and not just crudely ported to it.

Incredibly well-said.

I'd like to emphasise, as a console gamer, the exact reverse of this should also be true, and the console versions must be developed for their respective platforms (And XBox and PS3 development need to be somewhat independent, as the systems function VERY differently) and not just ported badly from the PC version.

SD have made it clear that they HAVE been doing this though, and I'm quite confident the results will show this to be true.

Of course!

Maybe... just maybe... console and PC gamers could even be... friends! ^_^
