Multiplayer in Skyrim...

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 8:52 pm

Ok so when I saw IGN's 'Dark Souls will eat skyrim's face off' article I was soooo angry. First point they did and the most pointless : Multiplayer. Stating that Dark Souls will have multiplayer where Skyrim doesn't have any type of multiplayer at all. Take CoD for example, it's single player campaign isn't bad at all but when it comes to it's multiplayer... it svcks svcks and svcks.. it's multiplayer can be summed up by two words : Mindless Killing. Now when I play a game, I play to experience a truly unique gaming experience, not to pass some time "pure fun" killing, dying, spawning and start from square one again. I can honestly say that I only played multiplayer in game once and I will never ever again. Companies that dumb down the single player experience just to make a multiplayer part of the game are dead to me. I know RAGE will have multiplayer, but at least it's not mandatory (as in a big part of the game), it's Single Player mode is RAGE's focus and heard the multiplayer part of the game is on another disc or something, we shall see.

A year ago or so there was an article that said that those who do not play multiplayer are not true gamers. This is my response to them : True gamers are those gamers that played the good old first RPGs like Planescape : Torment and Baldur's Gate on PCs, where PC gaming was just getting started. I remember booting up Planescape : Torment on my 64MB RAM PC. Stupid Multiplayer does not make you a true gamer, it was something that became sort-of mandatory for games to have it in recently, which is in my opinion very very stupid.

When I hear players demanding Multiplayer in Skyrim, it gets me soo angry. That would be the true end of a dying breed, the breed of the supermassive epicly single player games like the games Bethesda develops!

I thank you Bethesda, for staying true to your roots and not give up on Single Player. Leave that to $hitinityward.

I dont know man?!?! I′d like a coop in skyrim maybe 2 or 2-4 but not more [censored] team deathmatch but just roleplay with your friend or plunder cities and kill everyone in the game but anyway the point is that coop would be pretty badass

I don't mind as long as they don't have stupid plans of making it a MMORPG. I probably won't use it much though, although it would be nice to RP with other people.

Yeah, thread is not really necessary, but I do agree with you. I played COD4 (the OG modern warfare) for at least 100 hours online and I loved it. Then I played MWF2 and realized what MP games were devolving into; exactly what you described: mindless killing fields.

In COD4, without headsets, and without having met or played with any of the other members on my team in a given match, we would roll out together, pair up, spread out and search, come help eachother out. Flank our enemies, employ smoke grenades to great effect. We would even take up positions and guard eachother. Someone once got killed covering my back as I was sniping and I was able to kill the person that killed him, this is all without headsets or anything. So with headsets, the team effort really shined through and was great fun. But the longer I played, the less of that I saw. Everyone just wanted the best KDR they could get, the most kills, the highest accuracy, whatever. By the time MWF2 came out, it was all just a big mess. I'll never bother with MP again.

TES shouls ALWAYS be single player only. True gamers are people who play to enjoy the game itself, and everything it has to offer, not people who get off on having 40 kills and 10 deaths and bragining about that fact, or someone who gets continually frustrated with not being able to do that, but continues to play anyway. Both seem like a waste of time to me.

Just like how Fable 2&3's coop was really fun and great right?
