Multiplayer the worst thing about this MMO?

Post » Mon Mar 17, 2014 9:32 pm

Hello all.

The game is good!!!

However, somehow you managed to f**k up the only part of the game worth mentioning....its multiplayer.

I joined my friend the moment we entered game but with the choices and such, we were forced apart.

We continuously say to each other "oh just skip it then, hurry up and I'll wait here".

No matter how you slice the cake, that's a colossal error!!!

I am serious, you can't advertise the game as some wonderful online multiplayer experience on the "massive" scale when you can't actually play with one another.

How many times do I have to say "Shut up Dave, I'm listening to this a second" over my headset while trying to listen to some story plot...only to be met with "oh, I don't get that quest" because he chose to do something else....followed by a discussion about weather or not we can be assed to carry on "partying" with one another.

This killed the game for me. Suddenly I am forced to play "single player" in an "online world". That is not how an MMO should work. If you need any help, ask Blizzard.

What a load of crap!!!!

You are not alone. My wife and I have the same issues during peak hours. And for people who play with friends or loved ones, thats reason enough for them to stop subscribing. Eso is not a bad game, but certain things you just take for granted to be in place for MMOs fail to exist in this game like an auction house, being able to group with friends etc, and a functional nameplates/UI

You are right. They did make it harder to group up than other games. Even GW2 had the down leveling that was really cool to play with all your friends.

Still like the game but they need to look at that more I think.

This "single player in a multiplayer world" is worse than Guild Wars 1's "MMO towns in a single player world" rubbish.

Honestly, the very first quest, I decide to rescue all 3 of these dudes for some pirate girl and my house mate finished the quest after 1 person....is he to wait around for an hour or two while I finish the quest he couldn't be bothered with?

NO!!!! He simply left the party and that ended our multiplayer experience together on this Massively multiplayer online game. Probably forever.

Just be aware that quests can take you down different paths, you can choose to kill the goblin cheif and he can choose to negotiate. When you play with people don't make decisions like you're playing a single player game, make them as a group, because some quests are designed with multiple outcomes - which is not a flaw.

BBSooner, I am a games developer and I can tell you that if the players have to decide on something the game doesn't control then it isn't a mechanic its an error.

If that's how they wanted it played (and it's actually a decent idea) then the party should be forced to make that "joint decision" together in game through the dialogue.

However they don't do this. They leave each player in a party to make a different decision based on an individual instance of the conversation.

A human based solution outside game is not a solution to the games problem.

OH DAMN....I miss clicked.....that ends our party...forever! See you in PvP! Does that sound like a game mechanic to you, sir?

When multiplayer works, it is tons of fun. But, it doesn't work so often...
