Multiple accounts - not sure which one I'm using..

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 9:56 am

I think this is an issue caused by having a GameSpy or Crysis 1 account tied to the same email.. anyway, assume password one and two are different passwords:

When I sign in on gamesas, I use this login (Passa) and password one. Password two does not work.

When I sign in within Crysis 2, it only lets me sign in as "Passa" when I use password two. Password one does not work.

I want to redeem my limited edition code (I get the "You need to log in to view this page" error anyways) but I don't want to redeem it on the wrong account.

This is very lame guys. I thought after the disaster of the demo with gamesas, things would be fixed for release..

Can you even have multiple Crysis 2 accounts with one serial key?

I don't know. I can't test both accounts in-game so I can't be sure.

Hoping for clarification from a mod or something on this one..

I think you will find that you have one account for inGame Crysis 2 and one for this forum. The Main site login database differs from the forum.

I have tried to explain the database issue(s) here: http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=16873&start=30

You should go to http://www.gamesas.com/redeemcode to check if it is pass1 or pass2 you need to use to login. If its the same as your ingame login, it should be pretty safe to say that it will redeem correctly.

The only password that works on the redeem code page is the one I use for this forum. Not the one I use in-game.

So no solution then.. I can't use my Limited Edition content. That's it?

Did you logout before going to the redeem page? If you didn't there is a chance that you switched "profile" from the forum page, without you even knowing :)

Yes, I logged out first. Tried from an Incognito Google Chrome window, still no dice. My in-game password doesn't work, but my forum one does.

The accounts are clearly not linked and some sort of conflict is occurring as a result.

Yes. In theory, multiple people in the same household should be able to play the same copy, just not at the same time, right?

Well, it works, kind of. You can create a new account, level 1 zeroed stats. You cant attach the Limited Edition content to this new account, however. All seems to be fine until you unlock customizeable loadouts. They inherit the names, unlocked items, modules, etc. of the first account. Did ANYBODY playtest this thing?

I wanted to just start a new guy and work my way up after all the crap of the first month. I really wasnt thrilled to get all the goodies early. Soooo... If you see me running around as a level 15 with maxed stealth, visor, and mobility enhance... dont hate me. Its kinda hard not to use em if they are there. This all means that my son and I cant play on the same copy. Ask me if I'm buying another Crysis 2.

I found that, too. I was going to make a noob and do the unlocks/skills in a better way after I learned the system some on my first account.. but as soon as I unlocked at level 5, I had a feline with silencer and some advanced modules.

The worst part is, since those are shared, if you change the gear for the lower level account, it is the low level gear on your higher guy when you switch logins... and the only way to switch it back is to find a damn empty server, log in, customize gear, log out to save the changes, then find a server to play on.

I finally gave up and am sticking to the original account.. I've gotten far enough that I've fixed all my earlier mistakes (most everything is unlocked now) so it really doesn't matter.

Oh, and I tried making a new profile on my PC (as opposed to an online account) and scared the hell out of myself.. I named it the same as my initial online account to see if it would clean up the unlock thing.. it didn't.. so I deleted the local profile while logged into the second online account, and when I logged back into the original online account, everything suggested I was back to level 1!! -- quit the game and logged back in clean and it was all there (pulled back from online).. Talk about a pucker moment until the game reloaded :D

Seems a lot of details were glossed over (like not being able to customize your loadouts without being on a server).. My first exposure to CryTek isn't turning out to be wonderful.

Wow.. did they contract a 3 year old to create their database backend? How can we be two months after release and still not have stuff like this fixed? Simply mind-boggling!

Perhaps Crytek should have just swallowed their pride and implemented SteamWorks or something instead.. what a shame.
