Multiple Characters (suggestion)

I wasn't sure were to post this, so here it goes any way...

I would like to see a "Character Select" screen for people that like to play the games in different ways with different races and classes. Maybe have like a 3 or 4 player max and allow the player up to 3 or 4 saves per character. Have the character in a small spot light with surroundings representing their homeland and have the character do stances based on spec or favorite weapons or something like that. I hope I'm not the only one that thinks this would be pretty sweet. If any one has any additions please feel free to share them.

I'd dig it just as character selection screen.

Swtching files would just take you to a "mead hall" screen where whatever characters you have would just sitting by the fire and hanging out.

I'd just like to see them together for once.

But if you were granting wishes, what I wish I could do is play multiple characters that share the same game world.
While my main was saving the world from dragons, my thief could be making his way through the thieves guild. (Not at the same time of course) You're other characters would just be hanging out where their most recent save was. Quests would be mutually exclusive.

I think it would be rad. ...just as an option though, some people would hate that.

It would be nice if you could switch control between your character and your companion, allowing you to play your companion as an alternate character. Allow them to acquire experience and level while you're playing them and use the game AI to control your character in the meantime as a companion. That would work sort of the same way. Then you could create a mod to add a new companion to the game and 'insert' additional characters at any time.

The problem I see with this is that all of the quests/dialogue, etc., are tied to your player id so NPCs would never be able to distinguish between your characters. That could get confusing, especially when it comes to quest items and such. You'd have to transfer them from character to character, switch out bounty, etc. It might be doable as a mod, but probably not trivial.

That's always been one of my biggest wishes, anyways.
