multiple characters?

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:38 am

thats assuming you split your 16 in to 8 R and 8 S, some people might have more one way or the other

hello?
every of the 16 characters you can make has a security and resistance outfit...
you don't have to divide them between the factions, they're all interfaction...

Yep, same goes for me ^^ But you still have the option to do it, which isn't a bad thing I think.

Well that all depends if higher level characters gain more XP. Beside gaining cheap XP doesn't make them a better player.

Well it seems kinda logical to me because you're able to make 16 characters and that's the same number of total players. I suppose the only problem would be if you decided to make more of one faction than the other, in that case would the game just add and subtract characters where needed or can you only create 8 for each faction? I mean, why else would you need to create that many characters when you're able to completely change your guy at any time?

You can create 16 characters and each character has a Security and a resistance side. Basically this makes 32 unique looks if you want to.

I remember the devs saying that you won't be able to switch body types ingame, don't know how this will work out and if this also applies for characters in general. But, assuming you can't change body type ingame, I'd say you can't switch characters ingame (because a character has a certain body type)

You cannot switch body types while you are in a sp/co-op/mp mission, but before a mission when you customize or on the main menu's customization you can switch what body type your character is.

Yes, that's what I was looking for, thanks for clarifying.

No, I think they are just saying you can't change a particular character's body type in game but you can switch to another one of your characters, which is why you would want a range of types that you previously made ready to swap out. Going back to what I originally said however, why else would you need 8, 16, 32 (what ever it is) characters to pick from if not for bots on yours and the other team in your game?

so that you can have 1 of every body type and class combination and 4 left over for friends. The said bot system you mentioned I would not like, why would you want to fight against yourself but if some people do there should be a toggle option?? And I would think char in sp are predetermined(at least for every playthrough) to add more story to the game.

i know i'd like to have 16 chars, a few for my brothers, a few for clanbattles, then start a new one everyone now and then to see how much faster i rank, and the list goes on, i'd probably end up deleting chars to start new ones

You're not the only one. I'll probably have permanent characters for clan battles and some characters for fun. The characters for fun are only temporary and will be deleted when I'm done with playing them.

Ill have 12 permanent characters and 4 deletable, having all 12 unique roles for battle is useful, same reason I have 4 main characters on global Agenda.

i know i wouldn't like starting a new character and seeing my max lvl character on the opposing team...

The Ai wouldn't have the stats, just the look. Of course it shouldn't matter if the game is balanced.

I seriously doubt/ hope not. I mean going to a CP to change weapons and class is one thing but changing into another character not so much.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, it just gives you another opportunity to enjoy all of the awesome characters you made. however I do also agree with who ever was talking about pre-made characters for story purposes but our customized guys can still be used as filler.

1: Ok, so if you choose your heavy guy for a mission and you decide you need to climb over crap, you're screwed? Isn't that the reason they made it easy to switch your class when ever, why not your body/character too?

2: It wouldn't be as embarrassing as getting killed by some random weirdly put together bot. If you're gunna go out, you wunna at least be taken out by a bad-ass looking guy you made.

1. you choose the correct character with the correct build before the match.

2. the SD bots are so good reporters thought they were playing against other people when they played the demos.

There is going to be multiple ways around the map so heavies like me shouldn't have to worry about it.

indeed, you need to think about the map and how you want to play there before actually being in the game, not changing bodytype in the middle of the game because you can't work with it.

and no, not really, it'd just show i did a good job tuning that character

1. Alright, maybe that works for some people but i'm just trying to think in the same terms as the Devs with the ability to change your class/objectives when ever that role is needed. For instance, say you choose a heavy soldier class to be able to take a lot of damage defending or plowing through something, but then you decide you need/want to be an operative and slink through enemy lines but your heavy's not really much of a slinker, is he? I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, and the game will be no less awesome if I am but I'm just kinda thinking about similar situations in TF2 were different classes call for different body types.

2. fair enough but what is cooler than having a team of awesome dudes that you created with your unique style preferences versus formidably awesome-looking enemies? Granted, I think all the styles are cool but I'm just not personally much of a dreads and baggy pants guy.

seeing an enemy you don't like gives you another reason to kill him ;)

and just because you can't switch bodytypes is making it worthwhile, you choose what your position on the battlefield will be. if you want to be versatile, just take medium, if your a frontline guy, take heavy, if your a stealthy or fast dude, take light.
the classes work with all bodytypes, the only thing that changes is how you use them.

what the two above said is true, and i believe it's in the FAQ at the top of the page.
it would be greatly appreciated if you would read it prior to making topics to ask questions

I have a question, is there only going to be two battlegrounds, or have they just released the two that you see on the website?

No, they scrapped both battlegrounds. There are no battlegrounds left, so it's up to the community to make them.

Sorry ^^ It's nothing personal, just use some common sense. There's not one game shipping with 2 levels. Besides, if you check the website or if you'd have checked the story, you would have known that the ark needs more than those 2 battlegrounds to keep 50.000 people in life.
