Multiple settlement attacks, really?

I thought, "Come on, gamesas, that's not fair!"

For those who can't click the link - it shows two more settlement attacks happening after I dealt with one of the first two.

Four settlement attacks at the same time? Really?

Murkwater Construction Site: Raiders (including one legendary) as well as the nasty sentry bot from the nearby buildings.

Sunshine Tidings Co-Op: Synths.

Greenstop Nursery: Raiders. Lots and lots of raiders, including three in power armour.

Finch Farm: Super mutants, including at least one super mutant master. I say at least, because when I arrived the mutants were already in the middle of the base and they quickly wiped me out with multiple grenades.

I reloaded a couple of times, to try and deal with all the attacks, rather than see "Failed to defend Finch Farm" pop up on screen while I was in the middle of defending somewhere else. After the grenade-spam death at Finch Farm I just quit.

Seriously… there needs to be either a limit to when these pop up (for example, not in the middle of a big indoor area) or an increase in the time allowed to deal with them. Having both "Finch Farm is under attack" and "Failed to defend Finch Farm" both happen during the duration of one combat is not fair. Having that combat be during another settlement defense was just adding insult to injury.

Bethesda devs have messed up a little. Your suppose to get them one by one. Not everyone at the same time. *If* so happens that devs did it intentionally, it's not fair as you said. The settlement attacks have been changed a little, but now some players can notice they trigger all at the same time.

Source? From what I have read attacks on any particular settlement can happen at any time as long as it has not been already attacked within 7 ingame days after which It does a check each day to see if it has a chance of an attack depending on how many settlers, defense and how much food you have in storage. So it is possible for EVERY base to come under attack at the same time. You would just be pretty unlucky for that to happen or have a crap ton of food/water in every base with little defense in which case you are asking for it.

Making it impossible to win these fights is unfair. Let's just hope the devs are reading these boards and working on it, not relying on modders to fix it.

I just had an impossible to win scenario yesterday. Possible spoilers ahead:

.

.

I was with Prime and Bos when they just blasted a hole into the ground to reach the Institute.

After we went in, Maxon said to Proctor Ingram something like: Ingram, begin working on that teleporter so it will be functional after we finish dealing with the Institute. After like half an hour into the mission, I got the message: Greentop Nursery is under attack. I try fast traveling to that settlement and find out that it's disabled, cause it's scripted for Ingram to get the teleporter working only at the end of the mission. Later into the mission I get the message that I failed to defend Greentop.

Greaaaaat :D

This can happen when the radiant system randomly picks two defense events withing a short period. Chances are, you had the first one assigned, and didn't deal with it quickly and the next cycle or so chose another defense event.

It's not that big of a deal, just go to the first one that needed help, deal with the attack, then fast travel to the second one and deal with that attack.. The game will generally give you a couple game days to go deal with attacks.

You are in bad luck, that's all...

If you take a look on the scripts, this is entirely possible: Normally, with good defenses there is a 2 percent chance for every settlement to be attacked, and 2 percent is minimum - you can do nothing to lower this chance. Every settlement will be attacked as a maximum once per week, regardless of the attack chance.

So - this is not contradictory to the rules above! It is just very unlikely - but as Murphy always says: If Bad Things can happen, Bad Things *will* happen ;)

But - also read here, that you have more time to defend than you think: If you prepare (without going anywhere) and then plan the sequence of your defending actions, you will probably be able to defend more than one settlement! Just look at the map and FT to the nearest settlement from the location you are. This takes the shortest time. Defend, and after success immediately FT the next nearest settlement. I do not know if you can manage three settlement defense actions, but two are possible I think. It depends how far away you are, because FT takes time too.

In my experience FT takes even a bit more time than actually traveling (running) to a settlement. So maybe you can better your chances by running to the nearest settlement. But running has the disadvantage that the battle starts, when the cell is loaded, which happens before you are at your settlement. But if the settlement has good defenses and good defenders they will stand until you arrive, and you still will not fail the defense.

This is a good reason to side with the institute. You can teleport around and save everyone all at once

Yeah, had this happen to me. Showed up at Sanctuary or somewhere and got notified that both Finch Farm and Oberland were under attack. So I head out all quick to Finch first and it's a complete clusterf*** with like 15 gunners including a legendary captain guy with a laser rifle that does ridiculous damage. Fast traveled right into the middle of the gunfight. Everyone at Finch is dead except for the lady there. The crops and water are destroyed and as I'm dashing behind the workshop building just to get out of the way of like a thousand bullets I get notified suddenly that Piper hates something I did then, right after that, it says she's going to Kingsport Lighthouse for some freakin reason, even though I didn't order her to do anything. Then she leaves. Then a legendary Mister Gutsy shows up and starts shooting the hell out of everything and everybody. I haven't even fired my gun at this point. It was a good while before I made it to Oberland, tell you that much.
