multiple spell casting in 1 shortcut

Post » Sun Apr 24, 2011 8:21 pm

hi everybody !!

I'm tired of opening the menu each time I want to cast a spell !! before a fight I usually cast 3 spells : protection, conjuration, destruction

It would be great if we would create a spell-liste or spell-pack and join it to a shortcut !!!

then it would be possible to reduce the number of pause during a fight .... and to be more instinctive in action

Better game experience and better immersion .... :)

Yes please! I think the addition of the favorites menu will do just that.

Because I don't think you can do this in Skyrim?

I think they verified that you can, I don't have time to look for a link, but I'm pretty sure they said it will be in there.

Spellmaking isn't confirmed.

Well we may not get Spellmaking in Skyrim, so that's a big reason why. Also they may play on console. Finally, being able to cast a damage spell at an enemy and cast a beneficial spell on yourself with the same hand at the same time just doesn't make sense.

I wonder if we can use a program like Xpadder to make our own controller setups this time around. It was irritating but you could on Oblivion. Maybe you could just make macros lol.

My bad, I got told by someone else on the forums that it will be in there. My mistake.

Any reason they said why it might not be included?

but cast the spells separately does make sense !!!
and doing it in the same time hand should be possible

New spell system might not be conducive for spellmaking. Spells have different uses now. If you have a fire spell equipped, you can tap the cast button to use it as a projectile or hold the cast button to shoot it more like a stream of fire.

I think it has something to do with now there being multiple effects per spell, i.e. flame rune, flamethrower, fire ball, etc. and that adding spell-making to that would be too complicated... or something.

This. Exactly what I was trying to say, but you worded it much better.

I don't know how you intend to direct a fireball at an enemy and heal yourself at the same time with the same hands but good luck. I think Self targeted spells should always have to be cast separately from touch or ranged spells. To me, that just makes sense, otherwise you could just spam a spell that protects you 100% from damage for 2 seconds and does damage to your enemy. That just doesn't sound fun. I'm all for a quick change for swapping spells on the fly, maybe even macros (if you can figure them out through a 3rd party program), but being able to keep yourself protected and hurting the bad guys at the same time seems like a no no.

Wouldn't that cancel out the two handed weapon system. Besides I think the favourite menu will be fast enough

Yes. This can turn into an overpowered cheat really quickly. In the past, it was mitigated by amplifying the cost of multiple spell effects, but we probably won't get spellmaking, anyway.

It might work if Bethesda designed a hot-key chaining system, so that you could fire off a custom sequence, but your character still has to go through the individual animations. That might remove the interruption of the combat flow, without turning into cheat spam.

There shouldn't be any pausing, that's what the quick menu is for. Have you not been using the quick menu? You should start doing that, makes fights so much more enjoyable if your not in the menu half the fight. If that's what you meant by opening the menu, you should be able to fire each one off within a 2 sec span. A macro of spells would take away from YOU actually playing the game and also would get to be problematic when one of those spells is offensive that you decide to add in so you fire in some random direction lol.

Then don't open the menu. Hotkey the spells you want and cycle through them. That's what the hotkeys are there for.
