Multyplayer is dead?!?!

Post » Wed May 18, 2011 7:56 am

Lol, PC gaming isn't dying, the only reason people seemed to think so is that sales figures have been skewed due to digital :)

However, games like this which are far too console focused definitely will be dead soon. The PC market is netting more profit than the 360 as a minimum in every game (including this one - ~29% market share and about 45% profit share), with some games even making more profit than both consoles combined (bad company 2 has a 70% PC profit share). No-one minds bugs, but when something has obviously been nerfed for consoles beyond reason then it won't be doing well. Especially when games that were console games get a better PC treatment for their sequel (Bad company 2).

Crysis 2 will have sold relatively well though, and i think it may manage to outsell the original (which has 3 million retail sales and probably about 5m including digital).

Oh yeah, did anyone realise that crysis outsold uncharted 1 & 2, killzone 2 & 3 AND Halo: Reach/ODST. So much for amazing console sales figures.

Hell, guild wars 1 sold more copies than any xbox exclusive ever has.

I am not impressed with the patch they released either, neither am I pleased with the way the situation is been handled by Crytek and EA. And yes the numbers of players is decreasing, not cause the game is bad, but cause of all the problems. Right now 5/6 of all the servers are abandoned and there are only aprox 3000 players on the others. The ranked list are filled with cheaters and crytek as well as EA playes it pretty much like duck and cover.

Its one thing to release a game but its a differnt thing to keep your customers happy and satisfied after launch. Its been two weeks by now since the launch and as much as I want to support Crytek cause I really like the game itself, as more and more is it hard for me to do so, cause of the lack of support and information. In a situation like this any news is better then no news at all.

I hope MP doesnt die -- its too early to tell, though. Feels like a coin flip.
Cheating is always going to be major with this game -- everything is friggin clientside! When you can issue a two line dev console hack to give yourself 99999 (or whatever) experience with every melee... "level 50 in one game!". Sheesh. I notice C2 is being regarded as pure idiocy by the smart folks on the hack sites; they cant believe it. The game was released with no anticheat to be found, and everything is clientside.

Generally pirates get the SP game within a few weeks/days of release, but they accept as Truth that you dont get to play MP unless you have a valid key. Not with C2. Nothing to lose, why not try those cool-sounding hacks, too. Cheaters multiply by 10.

I dont think they can stop the bounty of client-side hacks in C2.... but stopping the free, readily available multiplayer access would be pretty high payoff IMO. Also IMO, whats so friggin hard about THAT?

i rarely meet aimbot hackers this days..
permaclock and other **** can be ignored - just play better then this mother's tiks svckers =D let the looser kids enjoy the game =D you can do this without cheats, they cannot coz they are yoo lame and stuppid =D
relax ppl, give crytec more time to fix MP bugs
i never saw the game with no bugs in few first weeks of realease. be honest, you didn't see either =P

Yes the game died overnight. As did the developers. And it's the end of the world. Retards.

lol so true.

I must admit there has been a huge drop in local players due to cheating, gfx flickering issues, players getting disconnected.
I will finally admit, although i was reluctant to do so, that yes crytek has sold out the pc community for consoles.

Cant blame them though. They made their money.

LOL XD Sold out? And yet I go to console forums and they complain this game is a bad PC port/the multiplayer is crap compared to CoD. LOL, i think everyone just needs to WAIT for some patches on updates, every version of Crysis 2 is messed up lol. And if you're going to blame anyone for a bad multiplayer experience OTHER THAN EA for giving a tight release date to Crytek, then blame Crytek UK specifically, not the Crytek studio that made the singleplayer. THAT Crytek studio is the one with pure awesomeness, the Crytek UK is the love or hate one.

CoD "sold out" after MW. MW2 was crap. So was WaW and so is BO. Dont get how people compare a game that is better than the last 3 COD installments to COD

Yeah me and two friends tried to play earlier today and NO ONE was playing on any of the australian servers. We didn't have a fourth to join us so no games would start. We even waited in a 0/16 game and thought that surely at least one person would join to play, nope.

i don't think it's dead. people still play and have good time (i know i do). I sure hope MP will be alive for some time. I play 3 or max 4 matches, then leave session before game crush. That way i don't loose stats. works for me.
But it's sad to see 80% of servers to be 0/16 even on prime time.

I do not think it is dead at all. I see improvements ~ I have not had a broken server start for at least a week or so.

Unlock loss is a bummer but will work our way through it. Played last night for 2 hours and did not notice a single OMG You all svck I rule Hacker player once. Hard not to notice the 25 Plus kill rate and the kill cam usually gives them away :O
