[RELz] Murezor and Ampol's ENB settings

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:35 pm

Due to a photobucket error, my screens always showed up dark and people doubted ENB. But when I switched to imageshack, my screens copied just right. Since many people have asked for my settings, I must confess that it was teh great Murezor who lent me the base settings. I just tweaked them to suit my needs. But I did some fiddling around with ENB's effect file and produced a good result with the two combined.

Here are Murezor's base settings for Richards Burn Ralley Version, the same version I use too! (he doesn't have the effect file like I do which in some cases is up to choice. My effect file adds a slight blur to the scene rendering. Some like it, some don't)

A note to take into effect, ENB is not for low-end computers and will require a bit of computer literacy to handle correctly. Depth of Field and Motion Blurt effects are disabled by oblivion default and can't be enabled period. We will have to wait for OBGE to handle those effects :P

Then also are you using any LOD replacement?

what are the FPS for those shots?

I've used ENB with setting posted previously and my game slowed to sludge.

Holy leaking batteries, Batman! They're not so dark after all!

OK, so now I'm convinced, that it might be worth trying ENB after all. Seriously, does ENB come with a major fps hit?

ENB does indeed come with an fps hit. I am running
Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz
4 GB DDR2 RAM
Radeon HD 4870 1GB VRAM
Windows 7 Ultimate
1280 x 1024 native resolution LCD

I am also running an extensive mod list centered around FCOM and including QTP3 Redimized, RAEVWD and several more texture replacers, along with All Natural and Enhanced Water.

Here are some screens without ENB enabled: fps around 20-25:

http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/zz198/gothemasticator/GoodWater.jpg
http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/zz198/gothemasticator/CompareTimesofDay2.jpg

When I enable ENB, my fps drops to <10.

I am still fiddling with ENB setting. Although it is clear I can't play with it enabled, I'd still like to get some settings that are to my liking (Ampol has been very helpful!), and then I will post some screens with ENB.

I posted my ENB settings last night. It's very good, but the fps hit and the stability are a worry, so I don't reckon I could use it all the time. I also have an FCOM+ install, just adding the OBGE motion blur and Quarls DOF is enough eye candy for me.

That was my experience - really low fps, and I don't even use QTPIII - I'll use Core PC Vibrant if anything outdoors anymore. And with that the fps was really low - or really syrupy if using OSR.

It is neat that you can turn it off with a few key strokes, but play for a length if time? Nah - combat? No way.

Great for screenshots - but then Morrowind screenshots look amazing too. Oblivion for me is about action and combat (SCA style) and having syrup or stutter to death is not going to work for me.

I'd love to see an updated screen effects/ambient dungeons where these kind of things could be scripted to take place on certain interiors though.

Still curious as to AmpolX's Use of LOD replacers.

A few troubleshooting tips for low FPS.

First, use this line: "BugFixMode=0" under [Global], and turn that to 1.

Second, turn off occlusion "EnableOcclusion=0" under [Effect], then go to the [SSAO] parameter, and turn off UseAmbientOcclusion by switching the 1 to a 0.

Third, try setting your water settings under [Water] parameter to this, UseWaterDeep=0.

Fourth, Set ShadowQuality=2.

Any parameter that edits quality or filters for effects, set to 2 for low quality. 0 equals high-quality for those effects, 1 is a medium range, and 2 is low quality. That should fix some FPS issues. As for LOD, I don't use any LOD mods :P

My settings were set to suit my pc, which is rather high-end. You WILL have to tweak them to yoru settings. I have around 25 fps outdoors

The morrowind screenies From Valities look better than Oblivion IMO. Lol... Hmmm I'm running Vibrant Oblivion without a problem, Was running QTP2 rather smoothly... QTP3 not so much... Poor 256 meg video card didn't care for it lol... ENB though... If it is routed to my Ram or cpu I'ed be fine, I usually sit around 30% in cpu and around 60% in Ram... Though I do get stuttering in cities, but that only because there are 15+ people walking around anywhere I go... Nice screenies in any case, I'll be sure to give ENB a shot in OB, since I can't do morrowind.

Guys, just to help AmpolX out a little, there are a few points that I would like to stress from personal experience with this is and Morrowind.

1. There is not a one fix solution for all. Just because AmpolX posted his settings in the OP, do NOT expect them to look as they do in his screens and do NOT expect them to work for you. ENBSeries fluctuates a lot depending on mods that you have and how it interacts with them. Obviously if you have a mod or some such that makes the sun brighter that AmpolX doesn't have, the bloom that you see in screen is going to be a lot brighter. You ARE expected to play with the settings yourself to get them to work for you and suit your tastes.

2. ENBSeries can affect your FPS a lot. If you are having problems with your FPS, try changing the settings, as laid out the the previous point, there is no one solution for all and you ARE expected to tweak the settings to your taste and performance. Do NOT complain if it adversely affects your FPS and you are unwilling to play with the settings yourself. You have been warned.

Feel free to ask questions as to what the settings do but do NOT expect anyone to hold your hand and do everything for you. You WILL need to change the settings yourself.

I also suggest looking through the Morrowind http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=959227&hl= on this as there are a lot of tips and tweaks in there that can help.

Thank you for touching up on topics I was going to cover :)

To follow up on what CoolShady said, ENB is very "hostile" and will work differently with each user. For many it does affect FPS, for some, it barely scratches the surface. Just because you have a high computer, DO NOT expect this to run with ease. I posted a few troubleshooting tips but DO NOT be surprised if FPS lose occurs and gameplay slows down. YOU WILL have to experiement with your settings. I can't help you with that.

To answer the bloom question, its my effect file. Remove it and the bloom will be down. I'll try to find the bloom line in there to edit that so reduce over-bloom kill on menu. Also try disabling oblivions HDR.

Remember, if you don't want big FPS reduction and you haven't strong graphic card, you can't use SSAO (in ENB setting Occlusion).

ENBSeries can affect your FPS a lot.

Yes, it's true. ENB affect to FPS, and my settings in OP aren't for weak computer.

Later I add here more screens with ENB effect and with FPS (after and before).

Cool, I'll try the posted settings when I get a chance. FYI, you can get a working DoF with Oblivion, but it's the only thing I've gotten a FPS hit with when using ENB, so I dropped it.

Hey, Ampolx , could you please send your effect.txt file and enbseries.ini settings to this forum ? Can't download it anymore :(
