Hello, all!
P.K. Chuno here to inform you all that I've been working on a mod that'll deal with the Museum of Artifacts in Mournhold, and was posting this because... well, frankly, I've been planning this thing since before I'd started modding.
I'll be honest: my skills in modeling aren't amazing, nor are my texturing or scripting skills, but I've been working on this thing for some time, I'm not quite ready for an alpha release, I figured it'd be useful for myself to keep track of everything I've completed and made progress in. Some of you have already seen my Staff of Chaos (oops, spoilers. My bad there. ), however, I hope to improve and work with my models, textures, scripts, Construction Set, etc. and other such skills.
This project will make an attempt at providing people a chance to see some of the ES lore that was absent in Morrowind, while retaining as Lore-friendly of an approach as possible. Because of this, if there is anything which is deemed "not Lore-friendly," I'll consider removing it. Please note, if you disagree with any of the changes in here, but I believe they should be, then I ask that you respect my decision. Because all the models I make are modders' resources, you are free to use anything I make as long as I'm credited as the original author for anything of mine you may use proportional to the total content. If any content of mine is used, your mod must be either a) a modders' resource as well, or a compilation. Add-ons are greatly appreciated, heck, they're encouraged. If you make an add-on, please message me a link, and I'll put it up on the "Add-Ons" section (won't be applicable until published, however). If you'd like a small peek, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzKpacREhObYMEp1VUNaWG1jSVk/view?usp=sharing's a link for you to download and try out the Staff of Chaos, but be warned -- you'll need to add the items to your game by yourself. This archive includes a slightly older version of the staff with a much higher poly-count. Use the mesh "W_Staff_Chaos032.nif" if you're unsure which one to use.
Now, here's a list of the items I've been working on and their status:
-Staff of Chaos -- mostly complete. Still messing with it, although it's a fully-functioning staff.
-Dawnbreaker -- model is "complete," I'm lacking decent textures for it, unfortunately. Working on finishing the textures before finishing the model.
-Blade of Woe -- Model is complete. Two out of three textures complete.
-Anvil of Mithas -- Model is complete. Currently deciding between three textures.
-Hammer of Gharen -- Model is complete. Yet to determine textures.
-Chillrend -- Model is complete, yet to determine textures.
-Sanguine's Rose -- Model is in progress. Textures yet to be determined.
-Jewel of Fire -- Model is complete. Textures yet to be determined.
-Ebony Blade -- Model is in Progress. Textures yet to be determined.
-An Elder Scroll -- Model is complete. Texture Design and Scroll Art is in progress.
-The Book of Life -- Mesh is complete. Texture is almost complete.
-Draconian Madstone -- Model in progress. Textures not chosen.
-Ogma Infinium -- Model in progress. Textures tentatively chosen.
-Ring of Namira -- No progress.
-Dragonbane -- No progress.
-King Orgnum's Coffer -- No progress.
-Mantella -- No progress.
-Sanguine's Rose -- No progress
-Sinweaver -- No progress.
-Skull of Corruption -- Preliminary model, needs much more work. No texture progress.
-Staff of Towers -- As no known model or artwork exists, I've been working on designing it. No idea if this'll make it into the alpha, but I do hope so.
-Star Teeth -- No progress.
-Wabbajack -- Model in progress. Textures in progress.
-Soul Sword -- No progress.

Finally, I plan to make many of the unique items/artifacts of Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon available in the museum, as they were not originally available. I also plan to add a few more unique items (The Devourer, Wing of the Queen of Bats) that were available, but never used. All items will be obtainable via questing, adventuring, or through rumors. All-new dialogue covering the weapons, plus hints all around for the artifacts will be available as well. I also am in the midst of working on unique items/artifacts replacer that will be useable alongside this, as it will tweak the look and abilities of all the items not added previously. Also with this stand-alone add-on, most artifacts will be available without their subsequent quest. Be warned: losing some of these may result in incompletion of their needed quests. To ensure safety of mod-use, there will be dialogue changes for these quests, but only with that specific add-on.
Despite being called the "Museum of Artifacts Expanded," a version without Tribunal as a requirement will be made. Only a few artifacts will be available without use of the console, and those that are will not have as fleshed-out quest-lines as the GoTY version. A Tribunal version will add a few more quests and artifacts, as well as adding the items in Morrowind/Tribunal to the Museum. A Bloodmoon version will add some artifacts and quests. The GoTY version will add all Bloodmoon, Tribunal, Morrowind, and all the new artifacts to the Museum. All other add-ons of mine will have the GoTY version as mandatory, and must be loaded afterwards..
This mod will (hopefully):
-Add a new series of questlines surrounding the artifacts, allowing the character to travel across Tamriel to locate the artifacts.
-Add-ons for mods, including Tamriel Rebuilt, Siege at Firemoth, and potentially others if the opportunity arises.
-Add-ons for Tribunal, Bloodmoon, and have a full GoTY edition.
-Provide a lore-friendly way to obtain many previously inaccessible items. If chosen carefully, and with a good amount of luck, it will be possible to obtain all the new artifacts; however it will require a lot of patience, knowledge, ability, and much, much more. With every action, there will be an equal and opposite reaction -- so choose wisely.
-Expand upon the richness and glory of the Museum of Artifacts, providing multiple showrooms as progress is made.
If you can't tell already, this is a lot of content I'm working on. While I'm not far enough where I believe I'll need lots of help, I will almost certainly need lots of resources. I'm hoping to do the artifacts 100% on my own, but directions towards landscape/creature/miscellaneous meshes (rocks, trees, ingredients, statics, etc.), help with scripting (am using MSFD v9), and feedback will be greatly appreciated. When, of course, I'll be releasing the alpha, it will be exclusively available on the forums, and will not be supported or cared for anywhere else. Please note, I'm not asking for you to make any meshes here, merely help nudge me in the right direction. The more lore-friendly, the better, although strictly following lore is not 100% necessary, as it can always take the place as an easter-egg. The more-friendly to lore, the better, however.
If you have any questions, concerns, cares, etc., please ask away!
This mod is partially inspired by this mods like this one, "http://mw.modhistory.com/download-68-5954," although I've never actually ended up playing them, as they never felt enjoyable to me. This mod also stems from a belief that Beth left out too much with Tribunal, so this is an attempt to rectify this.
You can preview some of the "'completed" meshes (most lack textures) https://goo.gl/photos/yoEnM6p2a4C6iD5V9 if you'd like a small glimpse.
Thank you very much for reading this! While it's certainly lengthy (and will require many changes as time goes on), I believe that this description provides a decent preview of what I've been working on. As I've said earlier, if you have any questions, concerns, recommendations for modder's resources, etc., or are wanting to help, please feel free to do so! I'm not really planning on a team-project (as it's a lot to organize), but I do have small tasks (like texturing models, etc) that, while I can do, will take some time.
Thanks!
