Music for the next fallout game

Post » Tue Nov 29, 2011 11:44 am

Tom Lehrer has to be included in the next game

his songs; "So Long Mom", "We Will All Go Together When We Go", "Who's Next" and " Send the Marines" just to name a few are perfect for the atmosphere of fallout.

i would love to be blowing some poor chaps head right off and hearing classical tunes from Tom Lehrer...

look him up on youtube and read some of the comments and just listen to the lyrics.

its a perfect fit

It depends on where Fallout 4 is taking place for what kind of music should be in it.

I'll be seeing you, either the Ink Spots version, or Ella Fitzgerald's.
Whispers the Grass-Ink Spots
Wonderful World-Louis Armstrong
I'll Never Smile Again-Frank Sinatra
Everybody Loves Somebody Sometimes-Dean Martin

If its a western style one again, then I would love to have Singing the Blues by Guy Mitchell, or Don't Worry by Marty Robbins.

If they do a Texas fallout again, I hope to god they have Ballad of the Alamo in it.

Here's a link to the words for http://gordonlightfoot.com/prideofman.shtml. The version by Gordon Lightfoot is excellent. Not sure if there are any sites that have it as a single so you could hear it.

How about some rock. I don't understand this impression music stopped and became stagnant.

What, people all if a sudden stopped being creative?

Fact, you had Elvis. If Elvis existed them I'm sure so did Chuck Berry, Beatles, Fats Domino, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, and thus you had Rock n Roll.

Any of those names could have songs in a FO game, but why not kick up the jams with some Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, etc.

Nothing modern. Keep it from the 40s-50s music.

I have an idea about a radio station that before the Great War played "rebel" music. The "too modern" stuff that many advlts and older people were against, and protested against, and it got attention in media. It was the music of the youth, and not even all youth liked it either, many were against it like their elders. And in this Fallout game where this station is, the guy that took it over found tapes, loved the music and re-opened the radio channel. All the other radio channels in the game play the 40-50's oldies, and they dislike this radio channel and music. There could be a quest where you work for one of those radio channels to bring down this rock radio channel through a bombing or something. The channel would maybe play music like what you said, but license would probably be too expensive. But similar stuff from "cheaper" musicians. I'd say you could go as late as to music from 1970 but no further! Maybe just because I want to travel the wasteland to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhKnEo9ZyEs :)

Oh, and this idea was also something to explain that original rock tune played in the Tactics intro. Many people say it's out of place, but I think it fits. It fits that specific scene as well.

No, never ever in my Fallout! Trent Reznor's my favorite musician, but I don't want his music in my Fallout. Hope you were joking.

No, I'm not joking. Frankly it insults my intelligence that I am supposed to believe they only played music from 1950. So, for 127 years no new music.

That to me, is more ridiculous than laser and plasma weapons and super mutants.

NiN, Rage, Tool music is cookie cutter perfect for this game.

You can't tell me Elvis existed, and thus so did those other cats i mentioned, and rock n roll didn't exist.

Also there are a lot of old rockers who born before the time split.

Or try to explain this odd FO music thing people have.

If the game is trying to give a feel that the old world was stuck in the 50's culture and mindset, then I don't think industrial metal, prog rock or rap core from today would be that suitable. I mean, we have greasers... that rap and/or produced electronic sample rock music?

I'd say, if you wanted music that were supposed to be something from between 1950 to 2077, it should be original music written for the game. Because if the game was supposed to have everything that is 1950's but more than hundred years later, but the music would be different? But why just stop at the rock music, why no Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber, that [censored] is so popular and modern today aswell. I mean, why wouldn't you want to listen to Poker Face at the Gomorrah?

I wouldn't mind radio stations to choose from. If some played pop fine. I can tune in to what I want to hear.

But to say culture was stuck 1950 is a bit double edged sword. Some things I can understand being stuck, and others I cannot.

Creativity being one that would be impossible to keep stagnant, especially with the artists we know would have existed pre-divergence.

There are several things in fo 1, 2, 3 that cannot even be explained with SCIENCE!

For example, G11. Bullpup weapons. I would say even the nuclear weapons used in the great war couldn't have been conceived. Missile platforms. 1945 nuclear missiles were dropped from bombers. The long range communications and sats. The idea for sats for communications would have been an idea from late 70s to 80s.

So all these advances, some questionable even with science, but people still watch leave it to beaver and listen to sinatra

But I'm sure you nothing to worry about and it will still be 40s and 50s tunes, but a guy can dream.

Just to add. All founding members of Rolling Stones, Beatles, Jim Morrison, were born before 1945. Electric guitar invented 30s and first Gibson was 36.

I dunno how you can stop the evolution of music with what was already in place. How can creativity be diverged?

Hound Dog- Elvis
Don't Be Cruel-Elvis
