It actually add a nice atmosphere if there were bards and minstrels that told stories of epic battles, heroic adventures, mythological beasts, etc.

so if they had instruments to accompany their stories all the better.

Although I don't know how long it would take before it became stale because you could only have so many songs, tales, poems etc.

Nice with instruments for atmosphere, not interesting to play unless you can use a midi keyboard with it. THAT would be awesome.

maybe they should add something like ''add a song'' into Creation kit

hmmm i'm not sure that's the best fix. Although it adds more songs it would break immersion in a second. I know people do have old folk songs, but not many people do, more people are likely to have Metal, Rock, Country, Pop, RnB etc.

could be fun, but the bards should have MANY song, and they could teach them to you

I don't think we will see any bards, musicians or anything like it. But yes, it would indeed be a nice atmospheric touch. And if instruments are in, I don't think they will be playable.

There's nothing quite like jamming away on a bongo drum in a fantasy landscape!

Whenever I play Two World 2 online I bring out my drum and get the show going while everyone else fights! :disguise:

I think the annoying minstrels in Assassin's Creed 2 actually did a good job at bringing life to the streets. Even if the player is unable to play them, I think it would be amazing to walk into a tavern and listen in on a traveling bard's performance. Maybe he could have traveled all the way from Camlorn to share his folk music with that of the Nords. Point is, it would be wonderful for ambience.

the traveling bard's would be cool

you should be able to see one virtuoso not only in one city, but in many cities becouse he is you know traveling...

and you should be able to throw gold into the some kind of box

I'd be EXTREMELY happy with playable instruments in TES V! Would make my Bard roleplaying complete! :D

If you don't mind I bring this game of CD Project up again, there'll be instances in The Witcher 2 where you'll control Dandelion and he'll be able to compose and cite to people. So it can be done. Question remains if they can prove how it can be done right.

I would like to see them in the game as they add a sense of atmosphere, but it isn't that high on my wishlist.

I would love to see it from a cultural standpoint. Just consider going into a pub filled with Nords dancing and drinking and having a great time. One of the NPCs could be playing the fiddle or something with a real folky tune and it would really bring real immersion to the game. I don't know if players should necessarily be able to play. But definitely I would like to see some diagetic music in the game coming from NPCs.

Love the idea ( and I mean idea ) but I can't help thinking of the bard in Fable 2, oh dear. In my ideal world there would be a Bard's guild questline, but it ain't gonna happen so it's back to playing a real instrument in the real world, or Song of Time the ocarina anyone?

I remember playing some Frank Sinatra in LOTRO (trial) on a damn lute! So it's surely possible, but I wouldn't miss it... that stuff is more home in a show-off multiplayer setting anyhow. I'd appreciate some props though, like the instruments in MW.
