http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9adW5No9IM is perhaps one of the most epic songs I know.

I wondered when that would turn up. :celebration: Nice one, it always reminds me of the film Excalibur.

Music is just as important to me as the elder scrolls. I would like to say that I listen to the TES 3/4 theme song all the time while waiting for Skyrim, but I don't. Although, it's really beautifull! I would advice you to listen to classical music & instrumental jazz, as, like TES, it fully allows you to craft your own experience! There are no lyrics to tell what it's about, so it's about what you feel while listening to it! :)

For non-instrumental music, I like some progressive rock albums, especially concept-albums (all songs of this albums are about the same story/subject). Bands that do this are Spock's Beard, Genesis, Neal Morse, the Beatles did it even (Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band). I think TES fans love stories, and that's what these albums are about.

Check it out, PM me if you want to know more!
Of course, musical taste is very personal, you might not like it!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think there is anything a rock band or heavy metal band can do that would be as epic as a full orchestra or symphony and a choir, simply because of the shear volume of music that they can produce. There's just a depth and richness to music due to the numbers of instruments and voices that cannot be reproduced any other way.

If you haven't already you might want to check out Porcupine Tree, Gong, King Crimson, Frank Zappa, Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles. On the jazz side I love Miles Davis. [censored]es Brew, one of the greatest albums ever made. Also Mahavishnu Orchestra. :disco:

Wow, what's with the censor. Can't say the name of a classic jazz album, what's the  world coming to.

Thanks man, I checked most of them out before but a third of them I did not now about yet, I will check them out right away on Spotify. And yeah, man, do I love Miles Davis! Kind of blue is my favorite but I don't know them all yet, will check out the one you mentioned. Do you know Weather Report? It's a Jazz Fusion band, you could call it progressive jazz. From them I especially like heavy weather!

You forgot to include Shaent Blathanna. That's the most epic and folkiest one.

By the way, I have this awful feeling that there used to be a new thread on this each day. I checked and they're still open and alive. The youngest dating from the 16th I think.

There'll be a new one by next week anyway, leaving this one to die. :pinch: Defeats the point of posting.

I agree.
...but a rock band or a heavy metal band in addition to an orchestra and/or choir is a really awesome combination IMO. A rock band or a metal band by itself does not beat the orchestra.

You should check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_X_(band) (http://open.spotify.com/artist/0AhafB4WkcK5xPRfoGlQW3), if you haven't yet. It's a cool combination of jazz fusion and rock/metal. :vaultboy:

Kind of Blue is amazing. I've got 90% of Miles Davis albums and there's a lot to get. B' Brew is the most epic jazz fusion album ever made in my opinion, I highly recommend it. I've got Heavy Weather, cool album. Wayne Shorter was part of the Davis band for Brew. If you like fusion check the Mahavishnu orchestra and the Herbie Hancock albums Thrust and Head Hunters. :foodndrink:
