You should check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_X_(band) (http://open.spotify.com/artist/0AhafB4WkcK5xPRfoGlQW3), if you haven't yet. It's a cool combination of jazz fusion and rock/metal. :vaultboy:

Thanks man, Planet X sounds amazing. Couldn't be any different if you look to the list of participating artists! :)

I like [censored]es Brew from Miles Davis too, not my favourite yet ;), but from experience I know that I have to listen to jazz albums very often before I really start to appreciate them. When I do, I can't stop listening to them!

For all I would recommend Spotify, you can find a lot of music there to listen instantly and you just have an ad every now and then, not too often in my opinion! And yeah listening is limited to 20 hours (if you don't have premium), but that's quite a lot of hours!

That's not much to say, then.

Have you heard Thomas Newman? You should check him out.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnVqJLnTMek&feature=related : Opeth - Harlequin Forest

Opeth, they always conjure up images of nature, gray skies and winter. They are incredible from a death metal perspective and a progressive metal perspective, way too talented a band.

Anata, well, they just get me in an ass kicking mood.

I'm not very much into jazz, but I think I know what you are talking about.
I accidentally bought a Planet X album (mistook it for a power metal album...) and the first time I listened to it I thought it was a big disappointment, and I thought the music was kinda "meh"... but after listening to it more I think it's one of the best music albums I own. :D

Anyone else have 10 windows of Youtube open right now?

Obviously, anything with modern instruments wouldn't fit in the game, but there are so many good metal bands that still evoke the feeling and are good to listen to. The only one I haven't seen mentioned here yet is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvU-iuN9OOQ which is far from my favorite, but everything else has been mentioned.

Allthough not really nordic in feeling, nor TES related, might I suggest a classic from an older game?

I love the way it feels safe and yet extremely unnerving, knowing that right beyond the city limits, evil lurks at every corner, probaly my favourite music piece from a game.

Although I don't have anything against modern music it doesn't feel like the sort music I need to get in the mood for skyrim. I prefer to listen to classical, celtic or viking inspired music, It seems to work best for me.

Some classical music:

Some other stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgIVe6dcXug I must say, this one really gets me in the mood!

And if I had to listen to something modern it would be this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8sVAY2TlYo
