Music on or Music off - POLL

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 1:45 am

Just wondering how everyone was rolling on this one. While I like the music and its done nicely, it sort of takes away from other sounds and immersion of the game

Music adds to atmosphere, something that is good for immersion.

Sometimes, I mute the ingame music just to listen to Justin Bieber. It helps making me mad. Good for being a werewolf. Good for the hunt.

I turned it off in Morrowind and Oblivion, but I don't with Skyrim. Skyrim's music is far more dynamic in the past games; it's not constantly playing and it doesn't immediately switch to combat music any time someone or something sees you. Sometimes, it's just silent in Skyrim and you can enjoy the ambient sounds. Sometimes, you're just enjoying the calm music when a bear starts smacking the hell out of you and it suddenly shifts into combat music, totally taking you by surprise.

Skyrim did it right, and I don't think I'll ever turn the music off with Skyrim.

On. Definitely on. Skyrim's soundtrack is amazing, particularly mus_explore_day_02.

I think we should have more audio options. I love ambient but not the lively music.

Mixed...
I have a blank music file for the ambient/wandering/wilderness, the sound is actually really good but you don't hear it for the music, and a custom set of tracks for in towns. Then i have the default dragon battle music, because that is just epic beyond words ;p - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl-IUyzBFHghttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8KxVteYFwps

I didn't vote. The options are too restricted.

I play with it off, but just because I have better mood setting stuff. Like Bulgarian folk music, which is basically all choral. (It's used a lot in fantasy movies- it basically sounds like a cat/woman wailing. Often attributed to Asia, but it's actually Bulgarian in origin.)

Also, a lot of the time I'm just not in the mood for that kind of music. Which is when I play my electronica/pop/rock/metal/alternative/whatever.

Sometimes, depends on my mood really... sometimes I like to throw an audio book on or my own music.

ON, I even find that it turns itself off when appropriate, like approaching ruins or giving you periods of "ingame natures ambience" what ever the hell Beth did with the music system and its initiation its spot on.

On!! I even purchased the soundtrack.
The only thing that always pesters me with games like these is the battle music... otherwise, love the music extremely much!

On - because there is enough musical variety this time around. In the previous games, there was never enough tracks that you'd end up hearing the same track over and over again every 12 or 15 minutes.

I want a third option. I play with the music slightly turned down as sometimes it was a bit loud and kept me from hearing NPCs and such.

Ditto, but with a twist. Sometimes I turn it off when the situation seem to call for a more menacing atmosphere. Every now and then there's nothing more mood-immersive than silence, with just a casual breeze blowing or maybe some hissing noises.

The opera-style seems to blend well with the Nord saga.

On. The music is better in this game. Sure it may not be at the level of Icewind Dale, where each song is specifically designed to fit each zone and dungeon, but that's unrealistic for a game this size. It's better than Morrowind where the same few songs looped over and over, which really killed immersion, especially when I was going through a dark and eerie dungeon only to hear the calm and peaceful main theme playing -.-
